From the 80s obsession with exercise came this toy for young girls. Each set came with a white cassette tape and a workout poster. More than a few of us would wear the bangle bracelets and sweat bands everywhere and could be seen playing with our rhythmic ribbon all day. Hey, if it helped any of us get in shape, we’re all for it.
Beast Wars: Transformers (Beasties on YTV, due to YTV discomfort over the name)[1] is a Transformers toyline released by Hasbro between 1995 and 1999, and a full-CG animated television series spawned by it that debuted in 1996. The Emmy Award-winning series was set in the “original” Transformers universe as a sequel to the original series (which was later rebooted by various limited comic book stories from several companies including Dreamwave comics and IDW).
Green Jellÿ (pronounced “green jello”) is a Grammy-nominated[1] comedy rock group. Originally named Green Jellö, the band changed its name due to legal pressure from the owners of the Jell-O trademark, Kraft Foods, who claimed that it was an infringement of their trademark. Despite the spelling difference, the new name and the old are pronounced identically.
The Vortex football originated in 1993 by Oddzon Toys under license from toy inventor David Fuhrer as a blue football with a black extension branching off three fins for aerodynamic efficiency. The shape and weight of the ball enabled long distance throws not possible with an ordinary football. It became a top selling toy football in the world winning numerous industry awards. Oddzon was ultimately acquired by Hasbro Corporation and the product now sells under the Nerf brand, owned by Hasbro.
MechWarrior is a profession in the fictional universe of BattleTech, a wargaming and science fiction franchise created by FASA Corporation and currently owned by WizKids. MechWarriors are individuals who pilot BattleMechs, large robotic war machines that are central to the BattleTech series.
Sid Meier’s Civilization II (Civ II or Civ 2) is a turn-based strategy computer game designed by Brian Reynolds, Douglas Caspian-Kaufman and Jeff Briggs. Although it is a sequel to Sid Meier’s Civilization, neither Sid Meier nor Bruce Shelley was involved in its development. Civilization II was first released in 1996 for the PC and later ported to the Sony PlayStation.
Diddy Kong Racing is a 1997 racing game for the Nintendo 64 developed by Rareware. 800,000 copies were ordered in the two weeks before Christmas 1997, making it the fastest selling video game at the time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. An enhanced remake for the Nintendo DS titled Diddy Kong Racing DS was released on February 5, 2007. It is the first game to spin-off from the Donkey Kong Country series.
