Nescafe’ Gold Blend Coffee Commercials
Submitted by Nikitafullmoon
Nescafe ran a series of commercials from November 1987 to December 1992. They starred Anthony Stewart Head, who went on to star as Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (having got his break from these spots). Waiting for the next one in the series was like waiting for the next season of our favourite soap opera to start. The convoluted plot wound out like gold thread with one new commercial every six months, and had us on the edge of our seats.
“In 1971 Moog Music began production of the Minimoog Model D, a small, monophonic three-oscillator keyboard synthesizer which — alongside the British-made VCS-3 — was one of the first widely available, portable and relatively affordable synthesizers.
Unlike the early modular systems, the Minimoog was specifically created as a self-contained musical instrument designed for use in live performance by keyboard players. Although its sonic capabilities were drastically reduced from the large modular systems, the Minimoog combined a user-friendly physical design, pitch stability, portability and the ability to create wide range of sounds and effects.”

Manta Force was a toyline produced by Bluebird Plc in the 1980s. MANTA was an acronym for Multiple-Air-Naval-Terrain-Assault Force, which referred to both the “good guys” and their spacecraft, searching the galaxy for a “New Earth”. Their foe was called Viper Squad, who traveled in a spacecraft called Red Venom. The back-story involved the sending of a spaceship to find a “New Earth” for colonization by the World Government, given the overpopulated and polluted state of Planet Earth. The Viper Squad aimed to take over MANTA and colonize the New Earth themselves.
