Game Genie would get an Epic Win just for this wannabe Bill & Ted commercial, however, Game Genie was also an amazing hack for Nintendo users. In the wrong hands, Game Genie could be used for ill, such as using cheats that removed any challenge, such as infinite star-power on Mario. It could also be used for good in games such as the original Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy was incredibly slow and boring when you were required to trudge along for hours fighting trolls and giants in order to accumulate gold. The difficulty of the game also decreased because your characters would level up several times during your quest for gold. However, when you enabled “Almost Infinite Gold” from the Game Genie, you could move through the story quicker, while increasing the difficulty of of gameplay because your characters would be well-equipped, but under leveled the further into the game you ventured.

If you were a kid in the 80’s, you should at least be familiar with this. Packaged as the “Nintendo Cereal System” along with berry flavored Zelda cereal, the fruity Mario puffs were shaped like little turtle and goombas, as well as the plumber himself.
I always hoped they’d make more cereals for the Nintendo Cereal system, but it doesn’t seem like they will. Anyway, the boxes often had special offers on the back for stuff like trading cards or a contest for an NES Power Set! I was preserving a box of this for a whole year until my mom threw it out because of the smell, so if you’re preserving it for value, I suggest eating the cereal first. May be worth something to cereal box collectors (do these exist)?

The Commodore 64 is an Epic Win for bringing home computing and games to the masses. Not only was it stand-alone as a game console, but if you were savvy enough you could also program on it.

Although it was all a simple game of strategy and memorizing punch patterns, there was something magical about Punch-Out. We remember having competitions with our friends to see how far we could get without continuing and that final day when someone got as far as Mike Tyson and then we sat around all day trying to beat him. Then cheats and walkthroughs came out detailing how to beat each character and ruined it all…

This guy is such a pro, he plays the entire game, only getting hit once in the 3rd round by Tyson (Warning: It’s 33 minutes long):

GoldenEye 007 revolutionized First Person Shooters, Multiplayer gaming, and video games in general. Whether you were in middle school, high school or college, at one point GoldenEye was an epic party game for just about all boys and for most girls as well.
Just hearing the gameplay music set us on edge, cautious over whether or not one of our coworkers was set up on a rooftop, waiting to snipe us.
