Epic Win: Tetherball

Jun. 24, 2009

tetherball

Tetherball was the most epic of all playground games! Sure, the tall kids always had a bit of an advantage, but that only provided the shorter kids with incentives to learn different tactics and make up home-court rules that would even out the playing field. For instance, our court had home-court rules about ropesies and when they were appropriate, open hand versus fist hitting, high angle shots, and touching the pole. What were your home-court rules?

Epic Win: Crocodile Mile

Jun. 8, 2009

Submitted by Maggie

Crocodile Mile was just a Slip’n'Slide with a crocodile curtain at the end, but the Epic Win about Crocodile Mile was watching your friends and family fly uncontrollably over the Boomerang Bump and sometimes take out the poles that held up the curtain. Crocodile Mile was a great way to waste a hot afternoon during the summertime.

Epic Win: Bouncy Houses

Submitted and written by Sarah W

Remember those days as a kid when no matter what county fair, birthday party or fundraiser you went to there would always be one of those giant multi-colored bouncy houses? The best ones looked like castles or maybe some some sort of huge, freakish animal. There were even some that were made into gigantic obstacle courses. We would always try and collapse them or pop a hole, and you could spend hours just tyring to get a perfect backflip. SOmetimes, if you got everybody to jump to the side at the same time, you could topple the whole thing over. You could even grab onto the top parts and make it implode! We didn’t care if the fan was loud or if we fell down every few seconds, because it was just an epic win. It got even more fun as you got older, because you could send the other little kids flying with just one bounce!

Epic Win: The Cozy Coupe

We don’t remember anything “cozy” about the hard plastic shell of the Cozy Coupe, however, we do remember it being fun. Pick a slight incline or get a push from Mom, Dad, or an older sibling and off you’d go in the Cozy Coupe. The one drawback we remember was the Cozy Coupe’s lack of brakes…

Epic Win: The Hand Clap Game

May. 20, 2009

Submitted by Audrey S

The lyrics according to Wikipedia are:

Patty Cake, Patty Cake,
Baker’s Man;
That I will Master,
As fast as I can;
Prick it and prick it,
And mark it with a T,
And there will be enough for Jacky and me.

We don’t think those are the same lyrics we remember as kids though. Know any other songs? Post them in the comments.
