Epic Win: Clerks

Apr. 21, 2009

Clerks came out at a time when all of the movies were so cookie-cutter and stale and it was like a giant breath of fresh air. Nobody expected to walk out of their neighborhood video store with a movie containing scenes like the 37 dicks dialogue, Randall’s Happy Scrappy scene, and the Chiclets gum guy, not to mention one of the most epic duo’s in film history: Jay & Silent Bob.
Dante and Randall said all of the things that we were too afraid to say, and they said it so bluntly that we propelled a comic book nerd’s debut project into the annals of cult film history.

Caution: These scenes are definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work). Headphones recommended.

Quite possibly the best childhood movie of all times. If you intend on refuting my claim, be prepared to tell me why I’m wrong and present your case for the movie YOU think deserves the title. Email it to us at onceuponawin@gmail.com.

To top it all off, who didn’t have the Axel Foley theme song as their ringtone on their Nokia 5110?

Epic Win: Thriller

Apr. 16, 2009

How does one go about describing how much of an epic win Thriller is? How do you synthesize all that awesome down into a few paragraphs? Is it because Thriller was one of the first mini-film music videos? Or because the choreography was so catchy that it’s been remade by countless people in weddings, video games, Legos, and even prison?

Here are just a few examples of remakes:

once upon a win

Richard Pryor is considered one of the most influential comedians of the last 100 years. He said what he wanted, when he wanted and he didn’t give a… You get the idea. We’d say more about Richard, but we don’t think we could say it as eloquently as it should be said, so we’re going to post a few of our favorite clips and have you tell us what your favorite thing about Richard is.
