1) The more specific and obscure the better. We get a lot of duplicate ideas, so please set yourself apart by being specific. EG: Black Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars, not just Converse high-tops.

2) Please include attachments or links in your email. Use links for videos (ie: a YouTube url) rather than attaching video files!

3) Pre-2000 qualifies as nostalgic. Remember those go-go days? *sigh*

    Zoobilee Zoo:
Zoobilee Zoo was a children’s television program featuring costumed performers dressed as animal characters. It originally aired from 1986–1987, then in syndication until 2001 on several television channels including commercial network television stations, public television stations, The Learning Channel, and the Hallmark Channel. Only 65 episodes of the show were made. While it was shown for 15 years in syndication, it is not currently airing on any television station to this day. The original 65 episodes are currently owned by Hallmark.

Generally the plot of each episode consists of the main characters, called Zoobles, encountering difficulties common to young children and learning a moral lesson about dealing with such problems. Each character has a certain gimmick in his behavior or interests that gives him a unique view on each problem faced (i.e. Bravo Fox is a showman, Talkatoo Cockatoo never stops talking, Van Go Lion enjoys art, etc.)

The show is still available on a wide array of videocassettes, the most recent series released in 1997. A revival, which spawned new direct-to-video episodes and soundtracks was released in 2000, and a stage show, “Zoobilee Zoo Live!” toured briefly. A book is currently in the works, with input from all cast members and some of the crew, with a projected release in 2007. As of today, it has not come out.

The Flash also appeared for one season (1990-1991) on the CBS network starring double-Emmy Award winner John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen. Produced by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo, the series was a mild amalgamation of the Barry Allen and Wally West versions of the comics in that the female lead was Tina McGee (portrayed by Amanda Pays) and Wally’s need for large amounts of food after expending so much energy running all over Central City was transferred to Barry. After his lightning-induced chemical accident, Barry got into crime fighting after the death of his police officer brother, Jay; it is presumed that Jay was named for the original comic book Flash, Jay Garrick. A handful of the Scarlet Speedster’s rogues gallery made guest appearances throughout the series: Captain Cold (Michael Champion) (“Captain Cold”), Mirror Master (David Cassidy) (“Done With Mirrors”), and the Trickster (Mark Hamill) (“The Trickster” and “Trial of the Trickster”). The Flash also fought a clone of himself who wore a blue costume.

Clackers! Those two glassy balls on strings. They had a ring at the top of the two strings, and you kind of bounced them up and down so that the balls “clacked” together.
Of course they were dangerous and got pulled. Pieces would fly off the balls sometimes, kids would smack each other in the head with them – the usual fun stuff.

Hypercolor shirts were those shirts that changed when warm, but ruined when washed in hot water. I definitely had one that was a permanent pinkish purple because of that.
Freezy freakies were those gloves that had “surprise shapes” that popped up when cold. My sister and I got these one year when it was still warm, so I remember we ran to the kitchen to get some ice and rubbed it over them so we could see what they looked like.

    Schoolhouse Rock!

These musical vignettes aired during Saturday morning cartoons. They were songs that stuck with you and made you remember your math facts or grammar, and inspired a generation of a cappella groups to harmonize “Conjunction Junction … What’s your Function?”

    from Wikipedia:
Schoolhouse Rock! is a series of animated musical educational short films that aired during Saturday morning children’s programming on U.S. television network ABC. Topics covered include grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and politics. The series aired between 1973 and 1986, and infrequently during the 1990s and 2000s, with new shows created between 1993 and 1996 until its cancellation by ABC in 2001.

ZimmZamm – the 1970’s tetherball game by Mattell. It was a 5 foot pole with a large spring at one end. A tennis ball was tethered to the spring, and two players would face each other with solid rackets. They would each swing at the ball trying to get it to swivel either clockwise or counter clockwise. The winner is the one who got the ball to their end of the spring.

My brothers and I LOVED this game. We would smack the heck out of that ball, trying to get the other guy to duck. It was incredibly sturdy, and the tether would never tangle. Amazing. If anyone has seen a quality replica – or has the original(!) – let me know!!

    TEDDY RUXPIN.,..
“The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin” was a television series that ran from 1987-1988.

Teddy Ruxpin leaves his homeland in Rillonia with his friend Grubby in search of adventure. They meet up with an inventor named Newton Gimmick who accompanies them on their quest for the Treasure of Grundo. What the trio unexpectedly find are six crystals with different meanings and powers. These crystals, however, also can enable the Monsters and Villains Organization (MAVO) to have absolute power over the land, and their leader, Quellor, wants to make sure that an Illiop never possesses the crystals. Elsewhere, a less pronounced threat also routinely besieges the trio, the wannabe villain Jack W. Tweeg, a greedy troll/grunge who has his eyes on joining MAVO. The sixty five episode series unfolds gradually as the Trio meet interesting and often friendly creatures while visiting intriguing lands and going on wondrous, yet wholesome, adventures.(From Wikipedia and my youth)….i have checked this refrence and i know it to be true….

  84. Cinderpelt says:

I love Lucy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/44/ILoveLucyTitleScreen.jpg Set mostly in New York City, I Love Lucy centers on Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball), and her singer/bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz), along with their friends and landlords Fred Mertz (William Frawley) and Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance). During the second season, Lucy and Ricky have a son named Little Ricky (whose birth was devised to coincide with Lucille Ball’s real life pregnancy). “Little Ricky” literally grows up on the show and during the final season is played by 6 year old actor (Keith Thibodeaux).

Lucy is somewhat naïve and ambitious, with an overactive imagination and a knack for getting herself into trouble. Primarily she is obsessed with joining her husband in show business. Fred and Ethel are former vaudevillians and this only strengthens her resolve to prove herself as a performer. Unfortunately, she cannot carry a tune or play anything other than an off-key rendition of “Glow Worm” (or “Sweet Sue”) on the saxophone and has little other discernible ability (although to say she is completely without any sort of talent would be untrue as she has on occasion proven to be a good dancer and a competent singer in some cases). The show provided Ball ample opportunity to display her considerable skill at clowning and physical comedy, with Lucy’s determination to get into the act in any way possible, resulting in numerous wacky situations. Character development was not a major focus of early sitcoms, so not much was ever learned about her life prior to the show. A few episodes mentioned that she was born in Jamestown, New York, (later corrected to West Jamestown), and that she met Ricky on a blind date. Besides occasional appearances by her mother (Kathryn Card), who annoyed Ricky to no end by constantly mispronouncing his name as “Mickey” and mistaking him for fellow bandleader Xavier Cugat, hardly any mention was ever made of any other family members.

Lucy’s husband, Ricky Ricardo (the character initially was named Larry Lopez), is an up-and-coming Cuban American singer and bandleader with an excitable personality. His patience is frequently tested, sometimes to the breaking point, by his wife’s antics. When exasperated, he often reverts to speaking rapidly in Spanish. As with Lucy, not much was ever learned about his past or family. Ricky’s mother (played by actress Mary Emery) appeared in two episodes and in another Lucy mentioned that he had five brothers. He also mentioned that he’d been “practically raised” by his uncle Alberto (who was seen during a family visit to Cuba) and that he had attended Havana University.

Lucy’s best friend, confidante and accomplice in her crazy schemes is Ethel Mertz. A former model from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ethel tries to relive her glory days in vaudeville. She usually gets more chances to perform at Ricky’s nightclub, because, unlike Lucy, she can actually sing and dance. Ethel, although she is Lucy’s ally, often tries to reason with her, providing common sense advice.

Ethel’s husband Fred served in World War I and lived through the Great Depression. He is very stingy with money and a very no-nonsense type of guy. However, he also shows that he can be a soft touch, especially when it comes to Little Ricky, the Ricardos’ son. Fred performed in vaudeville, so like his wife Ethel, he can also sing and dance and they often performed duets.

Lucy and Ricky often play tricks on each other; for example, when Lucy tricked Ricky into thinking she was a compulsive thief; or when Ricky tricked Lucy into thinking she was not legally married to him, based on a mistake in their license. Although they may disagree at times, and despite their age differences, the four main characters are very close and loving.

The Manhattan building they all lived in before their move to Westport, Connecticut was addressed at a fictional 623 East 68th Street, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, which in reality would be located in the East River.

  99. Most of these are from the Early 1970s…I’m hella OLD…but the cool side of that is the fact I got to be a kid when it was COOLEST to be one.

    - Various Plastic Casting toys from companies like Kenner and Wham-O. There were all sorts of them but what they had in common was you’d plug them in and heat up plastic or rubber and pour it into a mold, and then let it cool and open the cast and you’d have a wiggly whatsit or a piece of Jewelry or a Doll. These kinds of toys had their heyday for a few years around 1970-1973 or so, but since it was so easy for kids to get burned with them they disappeared pretty fast after that. The most popular one I can remember was called SHRINKY DINKS.

    - FREAKIES Cereal, from around 1973-1975 or so. There was a toy Freakie in the box that you could stick on the end of a pencil.

    - WACKY WATERS was a bath toy from 1969-1970. Basically it was a set of powdered food coloring packets that kids could tear open and pour into bathwater to colour it red, blue, green or yellow.

    - SILLY SAND was a nifty toy from around 1971 or so. It was an art toy where you put coloured sand and water into little squeeze bottles and they would dribble out little balls of wet sand that stuck to themselves in a way that allowed you to make little castles and alien landscapes by slowly dripping the wet sand then letting it dry and adding more and more layers. After you were through playing the sand would be recycled after it dried but the colours would get all mixed up so the shelf life of the toy was somewhat limited.

    - COLORFORMS. What kid didn’t play with these in the seventies? A lot of kindegarden classrooms used them to teach stuff with. Basically just a piece of cardboard with a scene or landscape printed on it using high gloss print stock. Then you had a sheet of soft, flat rubbery plastic pictures of objects, clothing, furniture and so on that the kids would peel off and affix to the cardboard, and suction would make it stick to the picture, but peel right off when you were done with it so you could try different arrangements of items. I only found it fun when I was doing rude things with it I wasn’t supposed to do. I liked using my imagination…

    - Fisher Price TVs and Radios — which didn’t look anything like real TVs or radios. (I wonder if there are Fisher Price computers now?)

    - POP-O-MATIC GAMES. Remember Trouble? Aggravation? KerPlunk? Down the Drain? I can’t remember the name of the company that made Pop-o-Matic, even though I think I ought to be able to, somehow…

    - STICKERS WITH PSYCHEDELIC DAISIES. They were everywhere!

I’ve got Super Mario 64 & Super Mario Bros on DS & I can’t play them anymore! They’re too hard!

Ever noticed all the old games were so much harder then the new crap like PS3?

Playstation 1 ftw (Y), i loved the game ‘Nightmare Creatures’. ^,^

Zelda’s still number one in my games collection, closely followed by Pokemon.

  104. Kidsomebody says:

Meh, N64 is fairly recent compared to others. I for one choose the original Contra for the NES. It is the best run&gun game of its time, and definitely deserves some honor for being (for some of us) the first game to cause us to break a controller.

    • ShippoTheCRAZYTrekkie says:

Yes! I remember playing this game when I was a kid! The chomper level scared the heck out of me!

  109. ShippoTheCRAZYTrekkie says:

Babylon 5! It was a great sci-fi show that came out in 1993 and ran until 1998. Unlike most other sci-fi shows of the day, it had a running plot, with hints and mysteries dropped in the first episode that were not explained until the very last season. The characters were well-crafted, and the five-season story arc put even Star Trek to shame!

  135. Indian says:

Ball in a Cup is totally a nostalgic win.

“Hey kids of america, its hand painted wooden ball-in-a-cup, Mexico’s favorite toy for over 340 years. Who needs constant video game stimulation when theres ball-in-a-cup? You just toss the ball, catch it in the cup, dump it out of the cup, toss it, and catch it in the cup again. The ball is on a string and attached to the cup, so theres no worry if you dont catch the ball in the cup. And clean up is as easy as catching a ball, in a cup. So why spend another day not catching a ball in a cup when you can be catching a ball-in-a-cup?”

  136. Cyanide says:

    Ren and Stimpy.
    HUGE WIN.

  144. Michael says:

Those little pills that turn into dinosaur sponges. Who didn’t love those as a kid.

  145. Dzhessika says:

    Brain Warp. =]

“Brain Warp is an electronic memory game with voice commands. It is shaped like a sphere with 6 knobs sticking out of it. The knobs all have different colors and are numbered 1-6. There are 6 different games to play. In the first game, the voice calls out a color and the player must quickly rotate the Brain Warp until the color called is facing upward. The next game is the same only it uses the numbers. Other games include: colors and numbers, combinations of colors and numbers, code buster, and a passing game in which players add to an ever growing sequence. The Brain Warp calls out the winner at the end of each game.

The Brain Warp must be held straight for the game sensors to “read” selections correctly. It must be rotated from selection to adjacent selection – not diagonally or through another color. Correct selections receive a Confirmation Tone, incorrect selections (or if you take to long) receive a Razz tone.”

    Came out in ‘96.

  146. Sister says:

Dude, you can’t figure out why you had a hard time finding prints from the movie ‘Ghost’ ? How about buying it so all the people involved with the making of the film get paid. Pirating some yahoo’s cell phone video on ‘YouTube’ is very pedestrian.
