We at I Can Has Cheezburger are purists and believe only in the great and true Epic Win of the original Legend of Zelda, however, based on the votes that you gave Ocarina of Time, we were compelled to post it to the front page. The only problem is that there was so little experience throughout that we couldn’t find anyone to do a decent write-up, so the task falls upon you, the users. Why is Ocarina of Time such an Epic Win?

Scholastic Books was where we got all of our best books! Maniac Magee? Check. The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales? Check. Where the Sidewalk Ends? Check. Where the Wild Things Are? Check. Scholastic Books was an epic win because it brought a lot of great books into our lives that we wouldn’t ordinarily have been introduced to by our parents or teachers. For many of us, a book ordered through Scholastic Books was the first book we ever owned.

Unfortunately, Scholastic Books has been warped into an unholy junk peddler that’s allowed into schools under the guise of a “Book Fair” these days. Gone are the classics like Superfudge and The Mouse and the Motorcycle, replaced by fan literature for TV shows like Hannah Montana and Zooey 101.

In stark contrast to today’s children’s snack food commercials, these seem so naive and innocent. They present the Jell-O pudding pops as something appetizing and delicious for children, while also appealing to parents with their healthy calorie claims. Today’s brands wouldn’t dare announce their calorie count on television or they would have to dress it up with clever marketing by using the per serving claims (and then announce that a serving is only 1/4 of the Popsicle).
To top it all off, they have Bill Cosby, who’s pudding pop commercials were epic and impressions of them and of Cosby have become part of our pop culture lexicon.

Oh Pickle… All the mischief you get into. Without the trials and mistakes that Pickle’s owner makes, we wouldn’t have had this book, with great photos, acting as a guide for small kids on how to treat new animal friends into the family.

Castlevania was an epic NES game that shaped the future of gameplay and spawned a great series of games. Werewolves and vampires were a staple of pop-culture in the 80’s and early 90’s and this game complimented that time very well.
