Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast, a console that bombed so badly that it was discontinued roughly a year and a half after its release. But there were a handful of great games, and it was the first system to include internet (it was a 56k dial-up modem, but hey, that’s forward thinking!).

And I know what you’re thinking: ten years is hardly a nostalgic win. But consider this post a tribute to Sega’s legacy. The Dreamcast was the company’s last foray into consoles, before it shrunk and became a publisher/developer exclusively. Basically, remember how much you loved your Sega Genesis?

I only have to say “Zestfully Clean” and I’m sure you’ll hear the jingle in your head: “Zestfully, zestfully, zestfully clean! You’re not fully clean unless you’re Zestfully clean!” I always wished I had a bigger towel so I could snap mine open like in the commercial.

The Brave Little Toaster is an epic classic, but I have to say, the film is still pretty intense, even watching it 22 years later. This scene below is great. That’s the late great Phil Hartman as the Air Conditioner doing (what I think) is a Jack Nicholson impression.

Neat fact: it was the first animated film to ever be screened at Sundance.

It may’ve been called The Last Starfighter, but this 1984 film rendered one of the first starfighters in glorious CGI. Alongside Tron, Starfighter is considered one of the breakthrough films in special effects. The rest of the movie is a little less memorable…
