Epic Win: “Rock Me Amadeus”

Sep. 27, 2009

Submitted and Written by Andrea S

My favourite quote:

“Wer sich an die 80er erinnern kann, hat sie nicht miterlebt.” (it means: “Anyone who remembers the 80s didn’t live that time” and is probably in some relation to his drug use…)

I’ll be honest. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song, but it garnered an overwhelming response on the voting pages. The only Falco I know is from Star Fox.

Epic Win: Teddy Grahams

Sep. 26, 2009

Submitted and Written by Kevin D

I remember when I was a young lad I would check the grocery bags every time for some delicious little cookies shaped like lovable bears: Teddy Grahams. These were absolutely delectable. I remember I loved the yellow-boxed honey flavor the best, but my favorite color was blue and everything I had learned in my short life told me that if my favorite color is blue, I must always choose blue. So although the blue-boxed chocolate ones were good, it always left me wanting a little bit more, wanting to taste that sweet honey flavor.

Epic Win: Mentos Wet Paint Commercial

Sep. 25, 2009

As you guys can probably tell, I’m a sucker for great jingles. Mentos’s “The Freshmaker” campaign had among the best of catchy commercial songs. Forget the fact that adding more wet paint to his suit only makes it look worse. He’s eating Mentos: the pacemaker widowmaker haymaker freshmaker.

More people who overcome small wardrobe-related inconveniences by eating mints after the jump.

Epic Win: Corn Pops + Wacky Wallwalkers

Or maybe the epic win is prizes in cereal. I remember a day when my sugar cereal promised prizes in the box, not through some mail-in offer where I had to pay for postage.

Epic Win: Tom and Jerry

Sep. 24, 2009

Once Upon A Win

Submitted by Gloria

Tom and Jerry has a fascinating lineage. The first cat-and-mouse duo would be introduced to theaters by Hanna-Barbera in 1940. It would eventually turn into Tom and Jerry, produced by MGM Studios until 1958 and winning seven Academy Awards. Gene Deitch took over from ‘60-62, and the show was animated in Czechoslovakia. It wouldn’t be good again until Chuck Jones of Looney Tunes fame took the reigns again in 1963.

Debate of the day: Tom and Jerry > Sylvester and Tweety?
