Epic Win: Richard Pryor

Apr. 12, 2009

once upon a win

Richard Pryor is considered one of the most influential comedians of the last 100 years. He said what he wanted, when he wanted and he didn’t give a… You get the idea. We’d say more about Richard, but we don’t think we could say it as eloquently as it should be said, so we’re going to post a few of our favorite clips and have you tell us what your favorite thing about Richard is.

Epic Win: AMC Gremlin

once upon a win

The most underrated classic car of all times – the AMC Gremlin. Fresh off the factory floor, a Gremlin got 28-30 miles per gallon during an era when most cars got 10-20 mpg. The beauty of the Gremlin, unlike it’s sub-compact brethren of modern times, was that it was incredibly easy to modify using parts from AMC’s other production models, which included the Jeep.

Apr. 10, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Nelson

Alfred E. Neuman has been staring out from the newsstands since before most of us were born! Some of our most important celebrities learned how to use satire, biting wit, and parody from the likes of Spy vs. Spy and The Lighter Side, among other things.

once upon a win

22 years ago Square Enix opened our eyes to the world of video game RPGs with Final Fantasy. It was slow and tedious, but it was ours and we loved it. We could change our character’s names, customize which combination of characters we were to play with, and later in the grade, upgrade them into ultimate wizards, warriors, and black belts.

Epic Win: Zoobooks

Apr. 9, 2009

once upon a win

Zoobooks was that magazine that you could trade your “fundraising points” for to get a subscription to if you raised so much for whatever school fundraiser you were doing. Most kids inevitably skipped over the subscription for a bag of parachute army men or some other kitsch, but there were a few of us that actually wanted to read about elephants and rattlesnakes. Once you were done reading them, the pages often became wall decorations or essential elements in craft projects too.
