Epic Win: Superfudge

Mar. 31, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Christine R

In Superfudge Judy Blume introduced us to situations that a lot of us experienced at one point in our lives, but isn’t addressed in a lot of other literature for children that age. It ruined Santa Claus for a lot of us, but it was totally worth it. Did she ruin Santa Claus for you?

Epic Win: Legends of the Hidden Temple

Mar. 30, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Megan K

Yes! Another epic Nickelodeon show! Olmec (the giant talking head) commands you to retrieve whatever the special-of-the-day legendary artifact and bring it to him! Then you had to cross the moat, answer some questions and then do all the physical challenges and run through the temple, looking out for sentinels that would steal your pendants.

Epic Win: Big Red Gum

Mar. 30, 2009

Submitted by Susan O

“No little Cinnamon gum freshens breathe longer than Big Red. So kiss a little longer…”

Big Red was one of the only gums of the 80’s and 90’s with flavor that actually lasted for a decent amount of time. We remember not liking Big Red as kids because it was too spicy. The cinnamon flavor was just too intense for our sensitive little tongues.

Remember this commercial? With the kid from Christmas Story as a band geek making out with some girl on the street corner? Yeah, that’d never happen…

Epic Win: TaleSpin

once upon a win

Submitted by Darkzero

As soon as TaleSpin came up, office members started singing the theme song. One of them even uses his mail-order DVD service to frequently rent it. Actually, he even has a painting of Kit Cloudkicker in his room that he pretends calls him Poppa-Bear when he gets home (no joke).

If you don’t remember how awesome TaleSpin is, here’s an episode to remind you:

Epic Win: Colorforms

Mar. 28, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Sal O

Colorforms was like a do-it-yourself book or verbal fanfiction. You could invite your friends over and have a whole scenario happen on the pages.
You could also make Colorforms characters do whatever you wanted them to do. Colorforms were great for learning sordid things from older siblings!
