Epic Win: Wishbone

Mar. 26, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by GcRayden

Wishbone was awesome because it never Disnified the tales it retold. That and whoever came up with the concept of a dog playing the part of whatever historical figure’s tale they revisit was a comedic genius. It’s like those old commercials that used to air on TBS where they’d have orangutans reenact Pulp Fiction and other films.

Here’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow retold Wishbone style:

Epic Win: I Hanker For A Hunk-a Cheese

Did he say, “Something to chaw?” Doesn’t that mean chewing tobacco?

Now days, these old PSAs have been replaced by Bagel Bites commercials. No wonder kids these days are fat.

What’s that? You want to me to change the towels? Let me just get my scissors. Wait, draw the curtains? I’ll just get my pencil and paper.
Ahhhh, that lovable maid who was always getting into trouble because she just took everything too literally.

Epic Win: 3-2-1 Contact

Mar. 25, 2009

Submitted by Mountain Girl

3-2-1 Contact was another one of the glorious brain-candy shows of the 80’s and 90’s. Children watched it because it was interesting and exciting and it stimulated their imagination while teaching them things that would be useful and fun later in life. Gone are the days when we watched television purely because it was entertaining, exciting and informative, like this. Now, if you want to teach a kid something you have to include a segment where something gets blown up in order to demonstrate scientific approach.

Epic Win: Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Mar. 24, 2009

Submitted by Celessa B

Are You Afraid of the Dark was supposedly for young adults, however, according to at least a handful of people we know, they wish they’d never seen it, since they still can’t watch scary movies or tv shows. For the rest of us it was a great evening adventure that would scare the wits out of us and prepare us for the horror films that we would be allowed to see as we got older. Even now, watching clips of Are You Afraid of the Dark on YouTube, it has a certain spooky quality to it that if watched alone, too late at night, might give someone the willies.

Here’s an episode we found on YouTube and it’s extra spooky since it includes clowns ;) .
