Epic Win: The Karate Kid

Apr. 1, 2009

Submitted by Sal O

Go Ralph Macchio! And Pat Morita! You inspired an entire generation to take karate classes. Karate Kid was also one of the largest “underdog” hits of the 80’s. And who didn’t constantly imitate wax-on/wax-off in the hopes that it would make them good at martial arts?

Epic Win: Etch-A-Sketch

Apr. 1, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by mythbusting pyro

What was so fascinating about the Etch-A-Sketch? Most of us can’t create anything worth looking at on it, however, we all aspired to be Etch-A-Sketch artists. Epic sugar high is more like it. This was the first truly sugar-filled cereal, with chocolate cereal goodness mixed in with marshmallows. A bowl of this and it was off to the races!

In Superfudge Judy Blume introduced us to situations that a lot of us experienced at one point in our lives, but isn’t addressed in a lot of other literature for children that age. It ruined Santa Claus for a lot of us, but it was totally worth it. Did she ruin Santa Claus for you?

Epic Win: Legends of the Hidden Temple

once upon a win

Submitted by Megan K

Yes! Another epic Nickelodeon show! Olmec (the giant talking head) commands you to retrieve whatever the special-of-the-day legendary artifact and bring it to him! Then you had to cross the moat, answer some questions and then do all the physical challenges and run through the temple, looking out for sentinels that would steal your pendants.
