Epic Win: Triangle Pencil Grips

Apr. 16, 2009

once upon a win

Submitted by Jay C

If your parents sent you to school in the 80’s with the standard orange #2 pencils, your only salvation was the rubber triangular pencil grips. The combination of cool graphics pencils and triangle pencil grips propelled you to stardom. The only combination more awesome than any of these was the punk-rock kid who had triangle pencil grips and made intricate carvings into the #2 pencils his parents bought him using a pocket knife or a pen. Which kid were you?

Epic win for anything Play-Doh related! Double win for having such a long-lasting name (32 years and counting) even though the name has become at least slightly inappropriate.

Epic Win: Alvin and the Chipmunks

Apr. 15, 2009

“ALLLLVIIIIIIIIIINNN!!!!”

After revisiting some YouTube clips of Alvin and the Chipmunks, we’ve decided that it was definitely one of those, “had to been there” kind of things where unless you were there for the cartoon, you just can’t see why this was an epic win. Especially after that terrible movie came out. In any case, here’s Alvin and the Chipmunks rendition of Love Potion #9 (if you’re easily susceptible to earworms, we highly recommend you avoid watching this clip):

Epic Win: You Don’t Know Jack

Apr. 14, 2009

once upon a win

You Don’t Know Jack was the ultimate catalyst for fighting with siblings and cousins. Since you had to share the keyboard to enter your answers, eventually the poor-sport of the group would start smacking hands, answering questions for you and generally making it difficult to get a good score. At the same time the comedian host of YDKJ would mock you when you got answers wrong, to questions that were complicated, silly or confusing, which only added to tension.

Don’t remember how frustrating it was? Play YDKJ Online and see if you can beat our top trivia player’s scrore of $15,113. Choose your answers wisely because the questions don’t change, so if you play a second time you already know all the answers.

Epic Win: Kaleidoscopes

once upon a win

Don’t like what you get? Spin the dial and a whole new picture appears. Kaleidoscopes were our generations cure for ADD. Why do you think screen savers and media player “visualizations” are so popular among stoners? It’s like an endless electronic kaleidoscope.

Forgot how awesome kaleidoscopes are? Click this and tell us you didn’t watch the whole thing…
