Epic Win: Old School Bubble Hockey

Submitted by Kenny O, bubbly:
Every old school Chuck E. Cheese had one of these USA VS USSR. Bubble Hockey tables.
If Air Hockey and Fussball had had a lovechild, they may have called it Bubble Hockey. Or maybe not. They might have gone more traditional and decided on “Jimmy.” Who can say?

They have one of these machines at VooDoo Doughnuts II in Portland. It’s old so you have to be careful when you play, but it’s still loads of fun.
We had home versions of hockey games like this in the 1960’s/70’s.. The “bubble” was only on the coin-operated arcade versions, so the ball/puck would not get lost.
The thing that sucked about the ‘bubble’ was that sometimes, if hit just right, the stupid puck would get stuck behind the net. And then you’d get yelled at for shaking the machine trying to get the puck loose. My friends and I nearly got kicked out of Chuck E Cheese once just for that.
You either had to play this with someone else on your “team,” or else you had to be part octopus to play by yourself.
We had one of those (well the un bubbled version, it was a stable in any canadian home in the 60’s to early 90’s) Played it almost every day with my younger brother.
And i still have only 2 arms
Stoopid machine took my quarter!
