Yes! I wish they still made this stuff. Pure awesome.
As I recall, it didn’t taste very good and got soggy easily. Also, the pieces don’t really look that much like the sprites. Not what I’d call “pure awesome.”
I LOVED this cereal – especially how it was a double-sided box like nerds. Funny – I was just thinking about this the other day for no apparent reason!
within the last month I was telling a youngin’ about nerds cereal and nintendo cereal with the two bags in them.
I even went as far as singing the song from the above commercial.
although I cant remember my password for work half the time.
funny how the mind works.
i still have an old (1983) NES that works fine! i play super mario 3 all the time. its fun
@icycry
The NES was first released in 1985.????
no it wasnt. its 1983. it says so right on the Box.
The Famicom was released in Japan in 1983. The US version (NES) launched in 1985.
The NES was absolutely positively released in 1985. You have something else. It may be a Famicom, although those looked vastly different from the NES system. Whatever it is, if it says 1983, it’s not a vintage American NES.
then why does it say NES? and 1983?
Maybe it’s a Famiclone. Maybe you’re misreading the numbers. Maybe somebody changed it. Maybe you got one that was sent through time. Maybe it’s not American. Who knows. If you posted a picture, somebody could give more information. But as we’ve already said, the American NES was released in 1985. Google it. Wikipedia it. Every website will confirm this.
yup. definitely sent thru time. the price just went from $50 to $4.2 million, right? yess
what about this?
link in my name
That refers to the Japanese release date. The katakana next to “Nintendo Entertainment System” (above the “Nintendo” link) say “fu-a-mi-ko-so” which is commonly written in English as “Famicom” – which is the Japanese name for an NES. It was not released in the United States until 1985. So maybe not a time-traveling console, but an ocean-traveling console – you must have a Japanese one. (Like I said – “Maybe it’s not American.”)
Click the link on my name for more on NES/Famicom history. Seriously, it wasn’t released in the US until 1985.
For bonus trivia, “Famicom” is short for “Family Computer”
Excuse me, the last katakana is N, not SO – I missed the little tail at the bottom of the longer stroke. Was wondering about that myself.
Spoiler alert:
That stuff was just Trix pressed into dog kibble shapes by Purina. They probably still use the same molds to make Alpo.
I loved this stuff… I used to eat the Zelda cereal while watchin the Zelda episodes of Super Marios Super Show on fridays
Yes… I am that awesome
According to this, the cereal pops up on eBay occasionally, and sells for $100ish. Yikes! I never had it – wasn’t allowed sugary cereals as a kid.
“It’s a cereal system!”
That theme song is going to be in my head until I die.
The only problem with !TWO CEREALS IN ONE! was if you’re OCD, you were having to make sure both sides had an exactly equal amount of cereal. And if you have a brother who only eats out of one side of the box, well…
Or if he wasn’t there, you would have to mix the two flavors together to make it equal.
that would be blasphomy
Is that Nicole Eggert in the commercial?
P.S. I remember that cereal but was never enticed to try it despite the loads of sugary cereal I ate as a kid.
