This 1989 Wendy’s training video is like Videodrome, fast food style. Though there is something to be said about the “Grill Skills” jingle at the start of the clip, the real fun begins at the 3:30 mark, when the unsuspecting new employee is sucked into the television. Then the rapping starts. Eventually, you’ll encounter some singing meat patties with cartoon faces. It almost makes working at Wendy’s seem fun.

I remember having to sit through a whole series of these types of videos when I worked at Wendy’s. horrifying, but effective, I can still remember how to make one of their hamburgers 20 years later.
Which means that you won’t be able to forget the “White Red and Green” jingle either…

Yeah, 19 years for me, but I remember it too like it was yesterday.
I watched part 2, too. I must remember for the rest of my life to NEVER eat the chili at Wendy’s, or allow any of my loved ones to! (Probably a good thing that I don’t even like chili)
But the Chili’s the safest thing there.
Stay away from the Asian Chicken though, it’s orange
Ha, yeah, I think I had to watch this when I went through training in high school around 1994. Yeah, the cheezy 80’s effects and old school rap didn’t quite come across so well during the Grunge and Gangster Rap era.

Haha..now those Taco Bell training videos don’t seem quite as cheesy. And oh how that punchcard time clock brings back memories!
The one thing that struck me as odd…no mention of hand washing before starting to work with the food. EVERY TB training vid reminds the trainee to wash and sanitize hands.
Does Wendy’s still salt the patties like that? I can almost feel my mouth drying out and my arteries hardening.
I noticed that and I guess it’s OK to touch raw meat and then not wash your hands!
As long as you don’t touch the meat again after its cooked!

i had to watch this when i worked at wendys in like 95! we laughed to hard the whole time!
Oh… my… GAWD! I fast forwarded through Dave… he can’t pronounce ‘Old-Fashioned’ and a couple of other words that just makes me cringe. Too many years hanging out with the Colonel, that’s for sure.

While this is pretty horrific, it’s nowhere near as bad as the Sexual Harassment video for Waffle House. The guy in it actually started singing the Bloodhound Gang’s “Bad Touch.” I almost died.

By the way did anyone else notice the horrendous amount of grease that poured out of the patties with every flip’n'press? I never worked at Wendy’s, but our training videos were just as bad for Hardee’s and Bojangle’s.
Funny stuff! I also find it funny that all the people that worked there spoke English… not so much now.

Man. I did 10 years of Wendy’s from high school through college and a couple years after, finally running the place. I remember this video when it first came out.
