  1. KaBooM says:

WTF is this? I’ve never even heard of this. And NO, I’m not a child. Some of the things that qualify as nostalgic on this site are ridiculous!

    • legion says:

      it’s pigmania.

it’s an awesome game from the 80’s. maybe earlier; as early as i can remember, and i’m 28.

the pigs can land in various ways; it’s most likely they’ll land on one of their sides, but they can land in many other configs.

unlikely configurations and combinations are worth more points.

in order (L to R, top to bottom) those are sider, double trotter, double razorback, double snouter, double leaning jowler, pigout, makin bacon, and piggyback.

        Info WIN!!!!
We played Pass the Pigs last night. I love this game. I got it for a birthday in the late 70’s. My kids and grand kids love it! I still have the original box with out the electronic scoring dealy. We used a pad of paper and pencil way back in the old days.

        • Parmello says:

Sorry – my daughter bought a copy at Target and it had an electronic scoring thing in it. The one above doesn’t have that – thought I’d clear that up.

          • AngelMax says:

I found this game randomly in my closet several months ago when I was cleaning. I had never heard of or seen it before, and had no clue where it had come from.

This is the first I’ve seen of it anywhere else! I had no idea it was an Epic Win…

          • Anonymous says:

but……..how can you accidently do ‘makin bacon’ (still makes me lawl – lol maturity) as a kid, then giggle your ass off and spend the next 30mins forcing them to make bacon again and agan?

      • The Admiral says:

When you say the pigs land, are you rolling or throwing them? I mean, what procedure do you follow when you play? I’m asking because I’ve never heard of this.

        • Parmello says:

You throw them on a flat surface, just like you would roll dice. They land in the positions above. There is some skill involved, although at a rather low level.

          • Anne says:

I have one of the originals from the 70’s. Pig Mania is amazing. My cousins and siblings always play it over the holidays. We once had a 20 person tournament.

    • Z says:

You’ve never heard of it so it can’t be nostalgic? By that logic nothing should be on the site because there is always going to be someone who hasn’t heard of it!

I’m almost 30 and remember playing this game on vacation as a kid just as soon as I was old enough to try to keep track of my own score. Now I’m living in Switzerland and I see it in the store all the time. Apparently it’s become an international hit.

  2. Kyle says:

A lot of the stuff on here I don’t remember, but I do remember this. IIRC we had a set, as did my grandparents.

  3. silentrancor2 says:

I never actually played this particular game – but I did play a similar game called “Chicken Chit Chat” that played exactly the same but used chickens instead. Anyone else?

    • Jenna says:

Yes! I remember playing that version of the game, I think my mom still probably has it in our game closet. I’ll have to get it out when I’m over there next with my nephew.

    • Anonymous says:

Yes!!! Thats what we had too. I thought the concept looked familiar but I didn’t remember ours being pigs. So glad you remembered Chicken Chit Chat cause it would have killed me trying to remember all day!

  4. Llama says:

OMG I still have this game and I made people play it at the last game night I was at. This isn’t a ridiculous game. Go to Target or Wal-Mart and it’s still being sold there.

  5. Nick says:

I played this growing up and found it on the internet and have the game at home now too. My wife and I love to play this!

  6. D-Voice says:

I used to have this. Fun game.

  7. Escape says:

We used to call it “Makin’ Bacon”.

    • dawnieangel76 says:

Oddly enough, THAT was the original name of the game, as well as one of the ‘moves’ that were possible from the tossing of the pigs.

Apparently, it was deemed ‘too naughty’ because of what it meant, and all traces were removed from the game & gameplay.

      Bunch of Puritanical BS, huh?

      • Starcat says:

Huh… I must have been in that brief period when they called it “Pass the Pigs”, but still had the “Makin’ Bacon” score.

  8. MzHartz says:

OMG, I didn’t know anyone else had this game.

I don’t know what happened to my old game. I totally have to go pick a new one up now.

  9. Kelly says:

This game is awesome! I think my Grandparents have it and now I’m going to ask them if they still do. You can buy original used sets on Ebay I found. The new version of it just isn’t as classic looking in the packaging. Fun, fun game!

  10. bobboy9900 says:

I love Pass the Pigs! Oink

  11. Roody! says:

Pig Mania yay! This was one of those games that we never took out often (because my mom was worried we’d lose the pigs). But I always remember playing on days when I sick and had to stay home from school. My mom would take it out and get everything ready while I ate mac n’ cheese and watched The Price Is Right. Oh, I miss those sick days. And Pig Mania.

  12. Melissa says:

Ha! I was just talking about this game only a few days ago. We’d play it just before my sister and I went to bed whenever we had to stay the night at our grandparents’ house. Though we always asked for one more game of “Piggies!”

  13. Lisa says:

I remember playing this as a child (when it was called Makin’ Bacon) and now I’ve introduced it to my students. They love trying to see how many points they can get and the the risk in losing it all. I like that they are learning their basic math skills! It’s a WIN for both of us!

  14. Conanabanana02 says:

Holy pig!! I remember this game! I found it in my grandparents basement when I was a kid.

  15. vinylitis says:

i had it and it was called pig mania… i still have one of the piggies… ‘cos it’s cute! (b’.')b

  16. Vashra says:

I have to admit, I’ve never heard of this game and I’m 34.

  17. Scurvy says:

Yep. I didn’t think anyone else remembered Pig Mainia. I never knew it had any other names or electronic bits, just a pad of paper, pen (the pig pen no less!) cup to roll them with and 2 pigs. I still have mine (35) and my son (2) plays it. I can see it from where I’m sitting.

  18. Becka says:

Wow, I didn’t think ANYONE had ever heard of this game. I had it when I was younger and played it all the time. It came with a little orange cup that said “Pig Pen” on the side, and you used that to roll the pigs. Pig Mania!!!

  19. Dreggan says:

Used to have a version of this using cows. Was a pretty fun little game.

  20. rshudson82 says:

HA! I remember this! I wonder if I still have them? *runs away to dig through attic*

  21. Tesh says:

Bah, damn it, I was born too late. I’m 21, and even though I recognize a whole bunch of these epic wins, and remember doing/watching a lot of them with my parents, I feel like I missed out on childhood good times with this game, and a whole lot of other stuff here, like Squand, I never got to play with Squand as a kid, I had to buy some the other day just to get some kicks that I should have had when I was 12, not 21. Ah well, I’m still a kid as far as I’m concerned, and I’ll always be a kid at heart, so I guess I keep trying to reclaim the 80’s childhood that was denied to me.

    • Zoid says:

I’m only 19 and I had it as a kid. You must have not shopped in the right places. ;)

    • Tylonfoxx says:

they are still made, and are usually found in toystores

you’ll probably have better luck finding the game in smaller toystores or hobbyist shops, not the big chain ones

in Denmark, you can even still get the pen/paper version

    • Gigianne says:

I’m 22 too, and I was OBSESSED with this as a kid– I’m not sure how we found it so incredibly fun, but I’m glad I wasn’t the only one.

  22. Lana says:

They have an iPhone app of this game now. Woot for adulthood and childhood mashing.

    • Frogimus says:

I used to play this when I was young… As soon as I saw this in the app store a few months ago I had to buy it. NOSTALGIA WIN!

  23. Anya says:

haha we still got that! and yes the scoring system is… hfwwlfcd. unlike yazee where u learn the scores in this game, if u loose that lil piece of paper – ur screwed!

  24. bear grills says:

all i remember was that two pigs on top of each other was GAME OVER

  25. Karen says:

I still have my original Pig Mania from the 80’s. THIS IS AN AWESOME GAME!! The best part was trying to determine how they landed based on the chart in the package. Almost always there was an argument if they were touching or not. Ahhhhh memories.

  26. scrapheapchallenge says:

I’m 30 and still have my set of pass the pigs somewhere :D I have the one with the paper and pencil scoring pad. Will have to find it again now and bring it to the next games night with my mates lol

  27. foppagal says:

I played this all the time with friends as a kid. So much that I had a recurring nightmare about a hole that went straight through the planet and they would demonstrate this by throwing two pigs into the hole, lol.

  28. Ann Noyants says:

My husband & I are the only folks we know who own this game – introduced to us by hubby’s step brother & sis-in-law in the early 09’s- and we’ve taught all our friends how to play. (One friend always calls it “Toss the Swine”, though. LOL) We love playing & teaching new fans the ropes. Matter of fact, I’ve packed our pigs to make sure they’re in attendance during our mini family renunion over the Thanksgiving weekend. ;)

  29. Obi-Watt Kenobi says:

    I… LOVE… THIS… GAME!!!

  30. Jennifer says:

My parents still have their original set, we played all the time.

  31. faith says:

omg!!! i thought we were the only oneS!!!!!!!!!!!! we played PigMania at my grandmaS houSe when i was little, it is AMAZING.

  32. Kelly says:

Pig Mania! This was my favorite game when I was young. My mother and I played it all the time but we always called it “Makin Bacon” instead. We just thought that was too funny.

    Oh that elusive leaning jowler!!

  33. Ellie says:

We have a game like this, but it involved frogs.

  34. Ellie says:

We’ve had this game on our bookshelf for years and have literally never played it

  35. nick says:

We still play this game All The Time! Is this really a notalgia thing?

  36. Monny says:

    I miss that game :(

  37. Giga says:

Let’s play past the swine flu lololoolololololooll

  38. kisara says:

Does anyone remember a version with a pair of frogs? Every time my folks visited this particular family friend, my sisters and I got to play with the games he had, and I never quite got excited about this one…

  39. c says:

i’m 23 but i happened to pick this game up at a yard sale at about 8 years old. i’ve always had tons of fun playing it!

  40. Sally says:

Best. Game. Ever. My grandpa had Pigmania, and it was my favorite thing to play with at their house! Now that I’m older it makes one heckuva fun bar game!

  41. Wolftail says:

You know they got this on the nintendo DS? No joke! It’s really addicting.

  42. Nelle says:

My grandma bought this when we were all young and it became a holiday tradition! I loved this!

  43. Pestle says:

The set I played with was called “Pig Out.” It had a cardboard cup with a metal bottom, instead of a plastic cup.

  44. suncsorda says:

    I freakin loved this game!!!

  45. Sarag says:

I remember playing this game. We used to call it Makin’ Bacon! You can still find these at those calander kiosks in the mall.

  46. Black Blaze says:

lol my mom had this game in a German translation. She taught me how to play it. In German it’s called Schweinekoben, which means Pigstye.

  47. gallegosaa says:

We still have this game somewhere in my closet, used to love it as a kid!

  48. protocol says:

i still have one of these…in mint condition at that =D

  49. Liz says:

Best Game ever! Strangely enough I was having a drunken conversation with a gf around Christmas about this game (which she’d never heard of). I got given it in year 6 as a birthday present and I’m 24 now and still loving it!

  50. Patiszon says:

    I’m 24 too and I’m still loving it :)
