Epic Win: The Jetsons
Submitted by katsak, ruh-roh!
Hanna-Barbera counterpart to The Flintstones, The Jetsons live in a futuristic utopia ruled by conveyer belts. The show ran for 75 episodes, but they never got to the impending robotic uprising, led by Rosie the disgruntled housekeeper. It seemed like only a matter of time until the superior robots rose up and enslaved their human overlords.

If I remember correctly, the show was supposedly taking place sometime in the 90’s. George had a hard work week where he went to work three hours a day, two or three days a week. I remember him always complaining about his button pushing finger hurting.
Definitely an epic win, though I always felt the intro was better than the show.
I remember the Jetsons’ appearance in “Harvey Birdman: Attorney-at-Law”, wherein the Jetsons’ world gets submerged due to global warming. They go back in time to sue their ancestors for screwing up the environment. Poor things have never had to walk before, it takes them a day and a half to go from the door to Harvey’s office to his desk, and they lose Astro on the way (he dies of exhaustion).
Birdman fail: Astro was the only one that got any exercise, due to the automatic dog walker in the credit sequences…
Well Astro didn’t die. He recovered.
I, for one, welcome our new superior robot overlords.
Kent, you’re fired…
the jetsons- pure awesomeness
an epic win for sure
If I remember correctly, there was an episode of the Jetsons were all the robots were turning against George.
This show was and is great! They still run this on Boomerang channel. I watch it most every day! Still a classic!
And you had to love the backstabbing office robot (later turned Army Reserve drill sergeant) Uniblab…
“Planet Poker! Planet Poker! Jupiter Gin!! Jupiter Gin!!”
It was an Epic Win for ABC which broadcast the show first over their network in 1962. It was a win for them because it was the first series they could originate in color for its entirety. (_The Flintstones_ was made in color, but ABC didn’t have what was called a “color telecine camera” in place and running until 1962, so the first two seasons were originated in glorious B&W.)
I have Season 1 of _The Jetsons_ on DVD. Another Epic Win from the series would have to be hearing Daws Butler do his wonderful Ed Sullivan impression in one episode.
Wow… synchronicity. I’m actually watching my Jetsons DVD’s as I surf the internet right now. Cool.
was based in 2003.
You can catch some Jetsons in Kanye West’s Heartless video!
I am looking for Jetsons merchandise (like posters or T-shirts) but its hard to find!
It’s really, really wrong, but there’s a Jetsons parody in the beginning of an episode of Family Guy. George, having nearly broken his neck on Astro’s dog-walker (“Help! Jane! Stop this crazy thing!”), comes in and yells at Jane. “Didn’t you HEAR me? I’ve been out there for forty! five! minutes!” When Elroy says, “But…Dad–” George snarls, “GO TO YOUR ROOM!”
Seth Green is so good at making me go, “Ow, my childhood!”
Oh lord this cartoon was great! I had almost totally forgot about it… haven’t seen it in ages.
