Indeed. All I wanted was a cool pair of Underoos, like Superman or Darth Vader. Instead, I got Yoda. If you’ve ever seen the Yoda underpants, you’ll understand. You could not be proud of this underwear. It looked like you cr@pped your pants while sitting on Yoda’s face. Just one of a long string of disappointments that marked my childhood.

When I started working at Toys R Us I worked in the Kids R Us clothing department and they still carried underoos up until like ‘04 or ‘05. I don’t know if they still make them. TRU has almost completely discontinued their apparel stock and I’m not really in the market for children’s underwear at the present time because I’m neither a child nor have a child.
I never had underoos. I don’t even think I knew they existed when I was of an underoo-wearing age, something my mom probably conveniently kept me oblivious of so she wouldn’t have to spend the extra money. I still got character underwear, but plain old Hanes panties with the characters on the front and plain white undershirts. Also, I could’ve gone without knowing that my mom’s gay cousin and his boyfriend helped potty train me and bought me my first pair of big-girl undies…(awkward undergarment conversation is unfortunately normal at my house…)

I LOOOOVED underoos and wish they still made them!! I had C3PO and Wonder Woman! They always made me feel strong and powerful when I wore them under my clothes! I remember wearing them while watching Sat morning cartoons!

Ah, for the innocence of the past, when a full-page, full-color ad could feature children in their underwear and not seem inappropriate….XD

It was all about the Superman underoos for me, especially since I had a red cape, complete with S-shield, from a Superman-costume set of feety pajamas that I had outgrown. The cape had been oversized for the PJs, so the cape-and-Super-Underoos combo lasted me until I had outgrown the largest size they made.

My favorite Underoos memory is the commercial where the kids put on their Underoos and change into animated versions of their favorite characters– except somebody forgot to inform the animators that Optimus Prime is a robot, so he had a flesh-colored face under his mask. Apparently he’s white!

One of my fondest childhood memories is wearing my Superman underoos and jumping from the sofa to the recliner in my living room. I would laugh and yell as I launched off the sofa, getting extra oomph from the springy cushions.
