This movie=WIN.

I remember seeing it when I was like 3 years old. I'm 17 now, and I still remember scenes of it, like when big Bird was put in jail.

They did that on purpose to parody Donny and Marie Osmond. Also, Elmo appears in this movie before he was Elmo, at the end when Maria is talking about all the people who live on Sesame Street. :]

My son and I watch this movie all the time, it is the only thing besides Spongebob that he will sit still for.

LOVED this movie! Used to have it on VHS. A couple years ago I saw it in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart. It is now part of my DVD collection. I always remember the tossed salad sequence. I didn't know realize tossed salad was a real thing as a kid, haha.

I loved this movie -- and own it -- but for some reason I REALLY liked all the Big Bird travel movies - Big Bird Goes to China, Big Bird Goes to Egypt, etc. Thinly veiled cultural learning coupled with "they-don't-speak-English" gags in a made-for-TV movie -- WIN!

I liked this movie, but at the same time, I didn't. It made me so sad to watch. The blue bird part would bring me to tears. What can I say, I was a sensitive kid.

Sounds like you were really a fun kid JillS. Man it's hard to be a parent when everything you do to get your kid to have fun makes them ball or have panic attacks. Why try at that point. FTL.

My parents took me to this movie and I balled. I also had a panic attack when we went to Sesame Street on Ice at the Richfield Coliseum. (Ohio) We had front row seats and the costumes freaked me out. We left almost immediately.

Absolutely a wonderful movie. I had the soundtrack when I was young and listened to that all the time. My sister found the movie on DVD and gave it to me for Christmas this past year, though I've had no luck on the soundtrack.

This movie was so full of win. I can't tell you how many times I rented this movie from the video store as a kid (and at 27 I even have a copy on DVD now). One of my cell phone ring tones is The Grouch Anthem. I could just keep going on and on. :-)

Best line ever: "Are you kidding? I LOVE wild goose chases! Let's go get lost!" Out of sheer boredom I watched this before a college missions trip and laughed SO HARD because I knew I was going to be getting in that kind of a situation very soon (and sure enough, I did!)

I did love "Follow that Bird" as a kid and now would like to see it again. I remember when Elmo in Grouchland came out and I was all angry about it b/c I don't like Elmo. Then I watched it a few years ago and realized the movie was not about Elmo. It was about Mandy Patinkin. Therefore, it wins. I do think FTB is better, but only marginally.

I loved the whole theme that Big Bird was being sent to live with a bird family by social workers because "birds belong with a bird family".

I know I saw this movie as a child in the theater. We were hoping to see Disney's latest and since it was sold out, we went to this instead. (Disney's latest, incidentally, was none other than "The Black Cauldron".) All I really remember about it now tends to support some website (I think it was probably The Onion) that crowned the "Bluebird of Happiness" scene as maybe the single biggest childhood-destroying moment from our generation. I'm willing to bet there's nothing like that in "Elmo in Grouchland".

Aww! I loved this movie when I was younger. I was so sad when my dumb brother taped over it with Aliens.

Was this the movie that had the tossed salad sequence? That was a hoot!

And this win is appropriate given today's 40th birthday of Sesame Street (or as Chevy Chase mispronouced it, "sa same street").
