I’ve always wanted someone to explain this video. Who’s the old lady who’s sweeping in every scene? Why is she sweeping in every scene? Did Cyndi have to go away because of her bad haircut? Did the guy originally plan to come with her, then she talked him out of it? Or was that one of her suitcases that got left back? WHAT’S THE DEAL???

Look up the music video of her singing “At Last”

This is still an epic win to this day for me. Mostly due to the now-cancelled show “My Name Is Earl” where Randy Hickey, played by Ethan Suplee, would have these doomed-to-fail relationships sporadically throughout the show and every time one would go under there would be a montage of him holding a jukebox blaring this song full blast. Tried to post a link of a vid for it, but apparently that was a bad thing. *sigh*

Um, it really doesn’t matter is she’s a pop tart or whatever. That’s a horrible version. It’s very flat and lacks the energy of Cyndi’s version. They tried to make it some rock/country mashup and failed miserably.

Miley is shoved in everyone’s faces. EVERYWHERE. Which I’m fairly certain Cyndi wasn’t. She may have been all over the radio, but there wasn’t sleeping bags and cosmetics and watches and clothing lines at walmart and god only knows what else.
The reason she was popular was not only her music, which was a bit poppy yes, but her attitude. She was a bit punk and different from what was out there. And not like say, Avril Lavigne, but actual punk. Note the shaved portion of her head.
Also, with Britney and N*Sync and such, even I, who loves her rock to pieces, bops her head to that stuff. It’s catchy and well performed. Miley’s voice makes me want to take a cheese grater to my ears.
