Stargate? Stargate? I couldn’t get past the commercials for that POS. The tag line went something like, … “(however many) light years into the future”. What? A light year is a measure of distance, you morons. Oh well. I blame scientists for naming it that.

This flick was a blatant ripoff of War of the Worlds (1953). I liked it when I first saw it then reality set in. Devlin and Emmerich have yet to make a good flick outside of Stargate (and even that they ripped off an Egyptology student). Don’t even get me started on Godzilla…

This is one of my least favorite alien invasion movies. I like Smith, and I like Goldblum, just not in this movie. I remember seeing this in the theatre and hating it. I’m all for suspension of disbelief, and I still like movies that aren’t scientifically/technically correct, but uploading a virus to beat the aliens from a mac; no thanks hollyweird.

One of my all time favorite movies, I actually owned the DVD of this before I even had a DVD player! The “Henry V” speech is fabulous, so many great lines, cool effects, and I love Hillard telling the big guy, “Just tell ‘em I hit you … ” and his look of “Say WHAT?!?”

As for the new V … I’m not even bothering. If it ain’t got Willie, it ain’t worth the time, lol

What I always found funny about this film. People outside the US, mainly Europeans hate this film because apparently they do nothing while the world gets destroyed.

Well, probably most of it’s main audience is people who watched the original mini-series, so drawing it out like that series did would have lost a lot of viewers.

What? Those special effects look like crap. People running full-speed in the foreground while explosions and cars flying through the air in the background happen in ultra slo-mo? The effects in Terminator 2 from four years previous hold up better. The effects in Aliens from 10 years previous hold up WAY better. Hell, the effects in any of the original SW films and even Close Encounters hold up better than the cut-and-paste digital mess that is ID4’s effects.

I always end his speech with “On Saint Crispin’s Day” because I am a geek who has watched Henry V one too many times.

This trailer was good, but not nearly as good as the ad with “It’s the End of the World As We Know It”

And finally, the very end of the movie where Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are strutting across the desert is the best I’ve ever seen Goldblum look in his entire life. For those few seconds, he is HOT.

One of my top ten fav movies. I have the extended edition and watch it at least once a year, and maybe 3 or 4 times a year on cable when I’m channel surfing.

Oh, boy. This movie was the very first film that the big theater in my pathetic little town showed with THX surround sound. It was hilarious to see the entire audience duck and cover when the bullet ricocheted around the hangar bay at Area 51. Also, a lot of people jumped up and cheered at the end of the President’s speech…and then sat back down very quickly when they remembered they were in a theater! Ah, memories.
