Epic Win: Overboard

Submitted by Marcy J, wife stealer

Goldie Hawn as an aristocratic socialite and Kurt Russell as what I believe Kurt Russell is like in real life — what’s not to love about this classic ’80s flick? Is it just me or is amnesia the most hilariously silly plot device of all time?

Incorrect source or offensive?

  1. Jon says:

Best part? Goldie in a thong.

  2. Meg says:

I like the part where they glue her hands to the plates.

  3. Ignatz says:

YECCCH! I hate this movie. Tired plot, cliche characters, bad music. And they keep showing it on cable.

  4. Mariah says:

I love this movie, so funny.

  5. meuba says:

I used to love this movie when I was a kid. It’s still sorta fun in that cheesy 80’s way.

  6. TheObject says:

    the only good romantic comedy

  7. Roberta Johnson says:

Got to be my really all time favorite movie. Pure feel good fun!

  8. BeenThere says:

If one of us has had a bad day, my sister and I are both still pretty likely to respond to “how was your day?” by stuttering like Goldie’s character did after her first day with her supposed children.

No plot, silly characters, but funny and harmless.

  9. smuffster says:

Sunday was Big Trouble in Little China night at my house
    JACK BURTON FTW !!!!!!!!!!

  10. greenduckiesgirl says:

Kurt Russell is the only man in the world that actually looks good with a mullet. Love this movie and also Big Trouble in Little China. Cheesy? Yes. But also totally awesome.

    • Melanie says:

Ah, I have to disagree. Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver. That’s all I’m sayin’. I’d forgotten how well Kurt Russell carries off a mullet, though…

  11. Tim K. says:

One of the best movies of all time! Still entertaining to this day!

  12. Razor says:

I actually saw this in the theatre, when I was just old enough for my parents to let me go see ‘grown-up’ movies…Very funny (if a bit crude in places) but has held up well. I love Edward Hermann’s role (Grant, Joanna’s dorky husband). “Ahhh, Tofutti…Tofutti, where are you when I need you?”

My mom and I make each other laugh when we feel a bit overwhelmed…we wail, “Not in the barrel again!” The other day I was making pb&j’s for me and my husband and I laughed, remembering how Joanna (“Annie”) hurriedly tried to make sandwiches for her four boys…mayonnaise, peanut butter, jelly, stray M&M’s…
