Epic Win: The X-Files

Submitted by Curt B, who wants to believe

The X-Files had it all: conspiracy theories, aliens, government wrap ups, and one time Bruce Campbell (win) as the devil. The awesome theme song might sound a little dated, but having seen a few episodes recently, the show is almost as fresh as the day it came out.

  1. legion says:

show was dead after the leads had to be replaced.

  2. Miroku says:

I would watch Sightings, since it came on before this show. Then go to bed once this show came on.

  3. BAW says:

Here’s an idea for a crossover, if there are any fanfic writers out there:

    X-Files/Torchwoods.

  4. emily says:

I’d watch this every night it came on when I was a kid, but hide behind the sofa for the opening theme song it terrified me to death.

Almost as much as the building sexual tension.

    • Casa says:

I was watching from behind the couch too… my parents wouldn’t let us watch the show but we kept sneaking down and trying to any way!

  5. waffre says:

My husband got me the entire series on DVD last Christmas… it was the best present I’ve ever gotten.

  6. Susan says:

I just got into the X-Files. Season three was my birthday present, and I guess I have to wait until Christmas for Season four. I’m totally jealous of waffre.

  7. theoutsider says:

best show ever. epic win for sure

  8. LauraG says:

I have all the episodes on dvd, autographed comic books, magazines, trading cards, novels..

I was obsessed with this show when I was 13-14

    • Screen says:

For the love of god Bob.. Everybody has seen your Vid here. YES its sooo awesome. You can quit posting it now. Won’t make it to be the next web sensation…

  9. Anonymous says:

WTF? Where’s the RANDOM button. This is my relaxation before going to sleep!

  10. oobaka says:

Just bought the series on DVD. $20 bucks a season.
Watching them all all over again.

For those that didn’t know…there are “lyrics” to the X-Files theme.
“The X-Files is a show….with music by Mark Snow”

  11. igetstabby says:

Loved the episode that gave me a good fright watching it in a large dark room, season 5 episode ”Folie a Deux” where a giant bug creature that can crawl on the walls, is disguised as a man in normal light and turns people into zombies that also only look like zombies in certain dim light.

  12. jinny_1909 says:

I loved this show, watched it as much as I could. Too bad I had to stop when I was a kid, because of the nightmares it gave me… lol still loved it anyway.

  13. goodlookingelf says:

Just caught “Home” late at night on Sci-Fi, or Syfy as they are calling it now. Still freaks me out. Apparently, I happened to be living within 20 miles or so of where they filmed that episode. Wish I had known!

    • Blake419 says:

If that was the episode with the inbred hillbillies who went around killing people, and screwed their mom who lived under the bed. Then I totally agree with you.

  14. Tara says:

The most epic of all epic TV shows!!! (Barring the Simpsons, perhaps.) I have been re-watching the series lately, and it seems like it could have been filmed yesterday. Mulder was such a hunk, too. ;)

  15. Allison says:

I loved this show! (And when I say “loved” I mean “had a unhealthy obsession with”.)

    • Leigh says:

No one had a healthy obsession with this show.

I remember going on vacation out of town for a week and literally setting six different VCRs to tape it so I wouldn’t miss it. Remember VCRs?

I still have a poster hanging in my basement….

  16. gothicmonkey says:

Oh man I still watch this everyday. Last year mom got me all the season on DVD and VHS, in case my DVD’s were stolen. I began watching when it first premiered; never got frightened once, well except for “Home” which to this day I still can’t watch without shuddering.

And yes I had an unhealthy crush on Mulder.

  17. Karen says:

I also loved this show, which made it all the more heartbreaking when Duchovny left. It was so not the same any more.

My favorite episodes were the ones that were not tied into the overall alien abduction conspiracy. “Home” and “Post-Modern Prometheus” (about the deformed guy obsessed with Cher) are my favorites.

  18. Yuna says:

I still LOVE this show!!! After some 16 years after it first premiered on TV, it’s stands the test of time. I only wished Chris Carter picked up where it left off with Mulder and Scully on the run and us shipper fans would have loved to know what ever happened to William, and if Mulder and Scully would ever have been reunited with their son.

Now we have Fringe which will become a classic like XF.

  19. snuzzle says:

Theme song is dated? Dude, it still sends chills down my spine, seriously.

Oh and let’s not foret the awesome sexual tension and rapport between Mulder and Scully that kept us older fans coming back.

  20. dukethepcdr says:

I still watch this show. I have a few seasons on DVD and pop them in when I need a fix. X-Files is better than any of the paranormal wannabe shows that are on now.

  21. RaptorJesus says:

    Best TV-show ever.

  22. I’m so glad to see so many fans and thumbs up! Did anyone watch Home on Halloween? That’s a fun episode :) So many great episodes, I’m sure many who are fans will agree that Bad Blood is one of the best! There’s an X-Files event in 2 weeks in Beverly Hills California, Gillian Anderson, Frank Spotnitz, Rob Bowman, and Mitch Pileggi are going to be there. I’ve been to almost every event over the last 2 years, but will be missing this one because I moved from California to Texas. Boo!

  23. Bamsham says:

Oh man, did I love this show. Like so many others, I was completely and hopelessly obsessed. Didn’t watch seasons 8 or 9, though. Far as I’m concerned, the show ended with Mulder’s abduction.

Recently picked up the first couple seasons on DVD and am enjoying reliving it. It’s a lot campier than I remembered, but that’s okay — it’s still awesome and so much fun to watch.

  24. Season 8 and 9 were rough, but they grow on you. I was so resistant to Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish joining, but now I enjoy watching them. I changed my mindset… episodes with just them weren’t X-Files episodes, they were a totally different show :p That’s what I convinced myself to believe. They had some cool episodes, I really liked Roadrunners, Redrum, Empedocles, Alone, Dæmonicus, 4-D, Hellbound, Improbable (it’s a musical, hated it at first), and Sunshine Days. Of those, I would have to say that Redrum was my favorite, the episode was about a man who woke up to find himself in jail for killing his wife. He doesn’t remember a thing and every time he wakes up from then on, it’s the day before. He’s trying to piece together what happened and stop his wife from being killed. 4-D comes in close second, Doggett crosses into a parallel universe, forcing the Doggett from the other one into our world. It’s a neat idea. So WATCH SEASONS 8 AND 9 :) Keep an open mind.

    • igetstabby says:

The part where Doggett was wielding an axe looked interesting, don’t know which episode it is though :( Would like to know what That story was about.
Gonna get the whole series eventually.

      • danakscully64 says:

Sorry, I didn’t hit the reply button for my response to you, not sure if it made it to you. You have a reply :)

  25. danakscully64 says:

igetstabby – That’s Via Negativa. Honestly, it wasn’t one of my favs, but it was watchable. Here’s the summary from Tv.com: “Working without Scully’s input, Doggett and Skinner try to avert the mysterious murder spree of a drug-induced, religious cult leader and it becomes clear that the man can enter the dreams of the people he knows and can kill them in their sleep.”

If anyone has any questions, I can answer just about all of them.

  26. Linda says:

I absolutely loved/love this show. My obsession was with Gillian Anderson and how hot she got as the show went on.

  27. danakscully64 says:

Gillian is even hotter in person now. Hot.

  28. Megan says:

ha, I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I think I only saw one episode of it, as the theme song always scared me.
