Epic Win: KaBlam!

Submitted by Thomas A, action figure

Nick’s cartoon variety show, KaBlam!, featured a number of infamous sketches, including Action League Now, Prometheus and Bob, and my favorite, Sniz & Fondue, seen above. It was pretty cool how KaBlam! showcased different animation styles. And I’ve always adored Henry and June.

    Heck yeah :)

  2. QuoteMan says:

I’m usually pretty nice about commenting on these, but that just wasn’t very good.

  3. QuoteMan says:

I’m not usually one to not like the Epic Wins, but that just wasn’t very good….

  4. HockeyMom says:

Wouldn’t it be GREAT if Cartoon Network starting airing these during Adult Swim? Thanks for the reminder – I had forgotten how awesome this series was….

  5. t3hOutlaw says:

    Hell Yes!

“Thunder Girl! She flies.. like thunder.
and Meltman! With the power to… Melt!”

    xD

  6. sallysweet says:

I loved this show! One of my favorites was Prometheus and Bob. Ah, old Nickelodeon. Also makes me miss Stick Stickly.

  7. Jennifer says:

I never remember seeing that one.

Ok, time to crawl out of the rock you’ve been living under…
      Nickelodeon RULED the 90s!

      • Sarah says:

I’ve never heard of it either, but it’s not because I’ve been living under a rock. I was an adult when this series started. I think this is a bit new to be nostalgic. It only ended 8 years ago (looked it up on Wikipedia).

        • FAIL-IEN says:

Actually, it first aired in 1996 (13 years ago), so therefore it constitutes as being “nostalgic”, even if the show ended 8 years ago.

  8. moi says:

what’s happened to nickelodeon?? that was part of my saturday night lineup right there…

  9. biohazard says:

Sniz and Fondue were not very funny compared to the other sketches.

  10. chimpsmirk says:

Prometheus and Bob was brilliant!! I remember scouring the listings with my daughter so we could watch together. Under-rated genius.

  11. Courtney Jurica says:

I remember watching this when I was little, I remember “the pass the salt and pepper” song so clearly… Yeah… 90s Nickelodeon was awesome…

  12. Miroku says:

How did that one line go again?

    Shapiro! Shapiro! Warp speed ten!

  13. Entro says:

I remember the show… and I was really, REALLY surprised to hear The Toaster’s “Two Tone Army” as the show’s theme.
    Anyone remember ska? =)

  14. Anonymous says:

They really need to bring this back somewhere. The cartoons these days really can’t compare to them, especially Prometheus and Bob. My father and I used to sit and watch it almost every time it was on. I even had the super hero action figures.

  15. Loki says:

Fantastic. I just got a nasty virus when I started to play this vid. Oh well.
I gotta say, that was some pretty bad animation.

  16. Squirrely__Kitteh says:

I never ever EVER watch Nickelodeon anymore. it really was better a while back. Now we have eye sores like iCarly and Back at the Barnyard on this channel. The nicktoon I watch at all is Invader Zim! (and I watch religiously)

  17. Razor says:

LOL I remember Action League Now! Precursor to Robot Chicken? Maybe! Just not on as high of a budget. *g*

  18. missaa says:

“the sun is a mass of incondesent gas….”
    :)

    • Sunshine says:

Thank you. I was waiting for someone to say that. It’s where I learned that song and my main reason for buying Here Comes Science despite being way, way too old. XD

  19. Kristen says:

I really miss this show. How awesome would a DVD of it be? :)

  20. Nik says:

I love seeing these old childhood relics that you forget had existed. I see it then and all of the sudden all these fuzzy kiddy memories flow in all at once. Win indeed.

  21. Delicious dan says:

oh my god! thank you! i have been trying so hard to remember the name of this show

  22. wonderman687 says:

I Love “Action League Now”! My my would always tell me it was designed by college kids with to much time. That made me want to watch it more!

  23. toribug11 says:

action league!! that’s what it was! god, i was trying to describe that to a friend, and she kept telling me it was robot chicken! hah! Prometheus and bob FTW!

  24. razorhead says:

    are you kidding me?
    KaBlam f***ing RULED, man!!!
The person that said “Adult Swim” had it nailed man…
and bring back SeaLab 2010 and
    Space Ghost Coast to Coast!

  25. Breaker says:

Man, this show was awesome. Why isn’t SNICK itself an Epic Win? I love the Prometheus & Bob “evolution chamber” sketch. Also, the KISS episode from Action League Now.

  26. Phil says:

I was an adult when this came out but my nephews convinced me to watch it. Action League Now! was the best thing ever. “He’s super strong … and super NAKED!” The Mayor was hilarious, and Stinky Diver’s fantasy where he became giant was ultra-classic.

  27. maggie says:

yesss i love this show!!! with the weird caveman and the alien, and those 2 kids and bigfoot!! i havent seen this in years and i forgot the name i was trying to tell my younger friends about it!!! it was like robot chicken for little kids back then =P

  28. vinylitis says:

i don’t remember this show at all, and i was all over nick in the 90’s. i remember aaahh! real monsters, but not this.

  29. bailey says:

ohmy gossssh best show everrrrrrrrr xD

  30. FAIL-IEN says:

OMFGYFTW! I used to watch this show religiously every Friday back in 1996 through 1998 (when Pokemon took its place). I used to love Action League Now! and that Naked dude. I always loved how he was always the center of controversy (some bastard Preist, whom had no better child to do, made a protest to ban the show outright). I always thought his “Ouchies” quip was funny, although a little too affeminite. Still, it was what made Fridays something to look forward to back in ‘98.

  31. Blake419 says:

What was the name of the sketch with the girl who had the green hair and the huge head? That’s the one that sticks out in my mind the most. I think it called was Jack and sally or something. Although I loved Action League Now, that should’ve just been it’s own show.

  32. Glob says:

Thunder Girl, flying like thunder! Aw, I miss it so much!

  33. meaghan7789 says:

what i want to know is if anyone remembers life with loopy i believed it was called from kablam i loved it i have fond memories of the episode when loopy some how aired up the house or something and the house was floating

  34. pastblast says:

woooooow, i remember, that before i went to school, this would be playing so while i ate my breakfast, i would be dodging all the stuff that happens at the intro, like the aliens blast, or the godzilla

  35. AceDevil says:

I can’t believe I actually forgot about this show.
    Thanks for the reminder.
