FIRST!
They use play those reruns for ever.
There were some classic spinoffs that most people forgot were spinoffs because the original show is almost forgotten. The Andy Griffith Show was a spinoff of The Danny Thomas* Show, and itself spawned Gomer Pyle, USMC and that Mayberry, RFD thing. I’m sure there are other examples, but Andy Griffith was definitely a win from the past.
*Among other things, he founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
We watched this because my mother went to college with Charlotte Rae, who played the housemother; they were in the same freshman dorm.
This was my favorite show as a little girl. I wanted to be just like Jo and ride a motorcycle and get in fights.
I had a huge crush on Jo. You can keep Blair, Jo was my girl all the way.
I was totaly about to say the same thing. ^^
Not that there’s anything wrong with women of size, but my friends and I all found it mildly amusing that all the women on this show were very definitely plus-sized by the time it ended its run. It was difficult, 20ish rubes that we were, not to call it The Fats of Life. Nancy McKeon came out pretty nice though… but Lisa Welchel, what a fricking freak she turned out to be. Yecch.
I’m friends with Lisa Welchel, and she’s fine. Obviously had issues in her childhood. Read her book. That’s a nasty thing to say; shame.
Mm? Does she still vocally promote physical abuse of her children as a form of discipline? No thanks sugar, I’m a Christian and that kind of Christian makes Christians all look like idiots. And likelihood that you’re actually friends of Welchel’s? Yeah right.
Scrubs ruined this for me.
Kim Fields, who played Tootie, was in the Mrs. Butterworth commercials. She did so well, that she was invited to be on Facts of Life.
TOOTIE, YOU HAVE A BOOOOONG!!!!
