Epic Win: Nickelodeon Magazine

Submitted and Written by greggahorton, library thief

Nickelodeon magazine was the best thing ever! I used to read it in the library during lunch, and secretly steal the free prizes.

NICKELODEON MAGAZINE PLEASE! NICKELODEON MAGAZINE PLEASE! NICKELODEON MAGAZINE PLEASE!

Incorrect source or offensive?

  1. KnucklesE says:

My friend used to have a huge pile of them, so when I went over to his house instead of playing his totally awesome Nintendo 64 (top technology back in the day) I would sit and read all the magazines I could get my hands on. Those things were great! To bad he moved away….

Are they still just as good these days?

  2. anaranjada says:

These were the best!! I still have mine.. hahaha. I also remember this commercial, because I found myself subconsciously reciting some of the lines. : P

    • Blitz says:

Lol – all I remember are the commercials. I never actually bought an issue but those commercials used to be on Nick ALL THE TIME.

      “Nickelodeon Magazine PLEASE!”

  3. Lexx, King of the Ozone says:

    Haha, I remember this.

I had one that had an interview with the girl from Alex Mack in it :)

    The nineties were awesome.

  4. panda says:

*sigh* i always wanted to make one of those slime cakes.. never got to… :(

    • GV says:

I made one once, if I remember, it was basically a regular 9″ double high cake, and the “slime” was pudding (vanilla? just as long as it’s light/white in color) dyed with green food coloring. It wasn’t bad if memory serves right.

  5. Anonymous says:

I remember this commercial; I even tried to hang a sign up for my parents like the kids in the commercial did. I don’t know if that’s what did it, but they did eventually give in and get me Nickelodeon Magazine. :)

  6. derp says:

    “UNBELEEEVABLE!!”

  7. Miroku says:

Never had a subscription to it “I was reading National Geographic, EGM, EGM2, Expert Gamer, and other gaming mags” but I wanted to have a subscription. But really the magazine would probably be best in the 90’s, and once Nick changed their format I would assume the magazine went bad as well.

  8. Mike says:

I was subscribed to Nick Magazine during the Nick Golden years. :D Only thing is that I don’t know what happened to all my magazines though, it was so great back then.

  9. Anthony says:

    I remember these commercials!

Never had any desire to subscribe to the magazine, though I did kinda want to try writing things in the grass with the lawnmower.

  10. Anna says:

Aww, I remember this commercial! No! its being discontinued? That soured my day, :(

  11. Winman says:

Um…It’s still going. the October issue is in stores now.
    See for yourself:

    • Lynnie says:

If you’d read the article, it will “be discontinued by the end of 2009″

      • Winman says:

Aw, you’re right. I saw that “as of Dec. 2008″ and thought that was the claimed ending date. So consider my other comment a comment FAIL.
        Oh yeah and:
STOP TAKING AWAY YOUR MAGAZINES MAJOR KID’S TV CHANNELS DISNEY ADVENTURES WAS BAD ENOUGH!
Oh yeah, why hasn’t CN started a magazine? The other two have (I mean HAD >:( ) a magazine, so wouldn’t it make sense to start one?

  12. aw man, I loved getting these! I was still subscribed until like last year. My mom was always “why don’t you give this to your brother?!” because I was “getting too old” but they were so good I didn’t want to give them up!

  13. Kelsey says:

Never got one, but always wanted one. Sad thing is I had this entire commercial pretty much memorized, even until today. They sure knew how to pimp it.

    • Lynnie says:

I had the subscription, and I have the commercial memorized too. I think its one of those that if someone asked me to spontaneously recite, I could do it word of word, along with the Yaffa commercial…

  14. cipher_nemo says:

Fail. It’s probably more an annoying ad for more people than a nostalgia win for others.

  15. Courtney says:

I never got them, but those commercials were on ALL THE TIME!

  16. Olivia says:

I still remember this commercial. It’s so sad their discontinuing it. :( :( :(

  17. K-man says:

So do they even make these anymore?

    Now for my rant.
What happened to good old cartoons? You know, like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon in the 90’s. That was epic! Cartoons these days suck. I mean, I’m a 16-year old male now, and I will openly admit that I watch Flapjack (CN) because I think it’s funny. However, all these other new show kinda stink compared to all the old stuff. So it’s not just me looking through my nostalgia goggles.

    Anybody else feel this way?

    • zdanio says:

Agreed. I still watch the old spongebobs and can say that they were much more entertaining than the new ones. Cartoons these days focus more on empty-minded slapstick and potty humor that actual comedy. It’s not the same mind-rotting goodness it used to be. Now it’s just mind rotting. :(

  18. K-man says:

Sorry for double post, and my original question. Guess I should read ALL of the above posts before posting. How sad…

    :P

  19. Black Blaze says:

    Ahh, commercial brings back memories.

I actually tried the note thing on my dad, didn’t work. XD

  20. DizzyEmili says:

Good god. I remember seeing that commercial when I was 7 and trying to do those things to my parents. Of course they didn’t work, but I ended up getting the magazine anyway. ;D

  21. Adam says:

My kids made sure I kept the subscription up-to-date. When they slept or when they weren’t watching, I’d read it and enjoy. It was VERY well written.

  22. Apple says:

Dude, I swear I saw this commercial in like, 2005.

  23. AceDevil says:

That commercial played nonstop when I was a kid, yet I forgot about it. (Still annoys me seeing it again.)
