Epic Win: Celebrity Deathmatch

I’ve always had a soft spot from claymation, especially when used to animate movie stars and musicians beating the living hell out of each other. MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch was extraordinarily violent, even in an era where Mortal Kombat ruled Sega Geneses (Genesises?) everywhere. It also reminds me of when MTV had original content that didn’t involve some girl scanning her boyfriend’s bed with a blacklight.

Marilyn Manson was hands-down the best celebrity on it..especially when he popped up in the Hanson vs. Garth Brooks fight.
I thought Manson was in the Hanson vs. Spice Girls fight…
I’d have to say the absolutely very first fight…the one that was probably considered just the pilot…Marilyn Manson vs. Charles Manson.

Oh god, SUCH and epic win. …Why can’t Celeb Deathmatch come out on DVD? IS it out on DVD? I’m so out of touch on this crap…
Sadly, no. There was a “Greatest Hits” dvd, but it’s out of print. Amazon has seasons 1, 5 and six in their On Demand section though.
MTV rarely puts their shows on DVD, usually due to licensing issues. See: Daria, B&B.

Eh, it was a little after the era of MK. But still I loved the show.

Was secretly hoping for Madonna to die-MJ had alot of bad faults that is true-but I freaking HATE Madonna..even more than a child molester.

yeah celebrety death match was awesome. especially the announcers. they said some of the funniest $h!t that you won’t ever hear on T.V again.
Man, that show was epic. The remake they tried to do a couple of years back on MTV2? Not so much.
Great stuff. Hadn’t seen the Madonna-Michael fight, but it was excellent. My fave battle was always Hilary Clinton vs Monica Lewinsky because of the little touches like the beret with rotating spikes. CD was always at its best when it took the fight concept and threw it way into left field with scenes like the beret and MJ-as-hamster. Wonderful satire with just a touch of surrealism.
You kids get off of my lawn, I remember when this was just a short on Cartoon Sushi before it got its own show.
It was great to see a show that actually didn’t seem to like celebrities.
holy crapples, i was just thinking about this show! old ones are best. i’d like to see who they’d pit against each other nowadays. maybe jolie could beat aniston to death with her boobs or something…

This and Beavis and Butthead were the only real reasons I even watched MTV. Nowadays… forget about it.
