Epic Win: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Submitted and Written by Rachel S
Who doesn’t love a good story about the alphabet climbing a tree? “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, will there be enough room?” such suspense!
I realize the image is for the audiobook, featuring Ray Charles. Can anyone find me an audio clip?

Contender that may live up to, and maybe even quash this one?
Shel Silverstein’s “Where the Sidewalk Ends”
performed by Little Richard
ON VINYL
in 1991.
I was in first grade. I remember this record vividly. “I’m Being eaten by a Boa Constrictor” was always the most fun to hear performed.
I just found the cassette this afternoon. Sadly I’m yet to find a cassette player in this house >_<
Always will be a favorite book of mine ^_^
I am a preschool teacher and have this book, the CD with the Ray Charles reading and the VHS movie. My kids LOVE it! They always ask if we can watch the movie! I also have Chicka Chicak 1-2-3
My dad used to read this to me when I was little. We said the chorus “will there be enough room?” line together at the end of the stanzas.
Now I miss my dad
My mom used to read this to me and she’d always do the “boom” sounds loudly. It was one of my favorite books with I was little.
In b4 “Blast from the ass”
Blast from the ass
MY FAVORITE KIDS BOOK!!!! Besides perhaps, The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. Yes. My father told me that story EVERY NIGHT before I went to bed as a small child. Great parenting skills, no?
How did I not know this book existed until I was in high school, around 2001? And how have I never heard the Ray Charles version? I’ve only heard the version sung by some lady. And now it’s stuck in my head. Thanks, Once Upon a Win.
O…M…G…. The first book I ever read… *tears up* Oh, how I miss it and my kindergarten class so much… Best. Book. Ever.
This was one of the best books when I was little
I still have it somewhere, I’d make my dad read it “backwards” as if the letters were all fighting to the death or something… I was a disturbed child… O_O
Yes!! Favorite book as a child! Have it memorized to this day, can’t wait to read/recite it to my newborn.
they used to read this to us in library “class” in kindergarten. i love this book.
Best book ever.
Waaaayyy back when Chicka Chicka Boom Boom didn’t mean a double barrelled shotgun.
Someone gave this book to my daughter when she was little. I got rid of it as quickly as possible. Most annoying book ever.
you’re a HORRIBLE parent…. the book is a classic
chicka chicka boom…the first thing the pilgrims planted when they arrived at the new world. they said “hey lets plant some chicka chicka boom!” and then, like that, it was planted. shortly after chicka chicka boom was copywritten by ray charles and sold to
george lucas for inclusion in his riveting documentary “star wars, how i chicka chicka boom in space” and made for a very critical plot point in the 2nd film of the same name when princess leia said “but we’re out of mayo!” and sywalker managed to say the words using only burps.
This was my daughters fav book. Her 1st grade teacher gave them out to all the kids on their birthday. She would carry it around everywhere. It sadly came to a end, when she got car sick on it. She still remembers the book, and laughs about puking on it. She is 16 now.
