Epic Win: Cardboard Bricks

Once Upon A Win

Submitted by Molly

Cardboard bricks were the stuff dreams were made of. And by dreams, I mean kick ass forts. They made pretty feeble forts though, and could be quickly overthrown by kootie-infested girls breaking through the cardboard ramparts.

  1. hee hee says:

YAY!!!You build forts and walls and then play Godzilla!!!

  2. Dave says:

    Epic.

My daughter’s kindergarten has a whole bunch of these, and when I drop off all I want to do is build stuff with ‘em!

    Best kids toy…

  3. Muddah says:

Loved these in kindergarten(1964)! Sad to say, my children never had a chance to play with them…the school district considered them impossible to disinfect. So I was able to excercize my imagination, body, and immune system all at once while deflecting flying bricks like Superman. My kids had to “behave” & be bored, then develop their immune systems after school by playing and rough-housing in the mud…which, I’ll admit, they absolutely loved!

  4. utaduta says:

these were the best part of kindergarden! making awesome forts! my kids have them in school, when i see them i to have a huge urge to build a fort and hide inside!

    • K-Chan says:

O_O these are f-in’ awesome! had these in the after school program in elementary school. my brother and I would see how high we could build a ‘castle’ and then we’d run and crash in to them! those were fun, fun, fun times.

  5. Dave says:

Wow… this brings back memories. I got my first kiss behind a ‘brick’ fort wall. Seconds later, my first slap.

  6. Dan says:

MY FAMILY STILL HAS THESE!!! [although the blue is the big one and the red is the small] i would build ”houses” and play the three little pigs with my siblings! also not pictured that we have is these green tubes that make awesome chimneys.

  7. lelah says:

We used to re-enact Kool-Aid commercials with these! OH YEAH!!!!!!

  8. Jme says:

I’ve got a two year old that LOVES these.

  9. mstpunk says:

i used to chew on the yellow ones… it fixed my overbite… well i think it helped my overbite but it got me to stop sucking my thumb… epic win

  10. Paige says:

I run a daycare, we have about 100 of these and the kids love them! I saw them in a catalog and had sweet kindergarten flash backs. Had to order them!

  11. Gena says:

I remember playing with these at the pediatrician. The only thing that made going to the doctor’s office worthwhile.

  12. Amehdaus says:

These amazing bricks would transform the hallway into a guinea pig maze the likes the world has never since seen! Looking back, I have no idea how we stored the bricks between uses~

    • Maggie says:

I can’t believe there’s someone else who remembers these as being used for guinea pig mazes! Ohh, kindergarten.

  13. Heidi says:

I was the cutie infested girl rampaging terror on everyone else :P
The preschool day care I work at still has one and there is this adorable little boy who will build a giant tower and then run into them. He does this over and over it’s so funny!

  14. Stryde says:

Hahaha, I remember these from kindergarten and pre-school! They hadn’t declared them unsafe yet. <3

  15. Beth says:

    ah yes, a true classic.

  16. Anonymous says:

Good times in the Sunday School nursery…

  17. Juniper Jupiter says:

My parents-in-law got these for the Niecling and Nephewling when they were 4 and 1, respectively, for Xmas a few years back. I assembled them while their father came over and farted on my head a couple of times (nice). After I got them put together, I got them lined up on one end Domino style, and right away the little Nephewling knew what to do!

He thought the end result was AWESOME!! :D

Of course, that’s the reaction I was hoping for….what an Xmas!

(I could’ve done without Bro-in-law farting on my head)

  18. King Graphjam says:

Lol, my grandparents have a boxful of these at their house.

  19. Athanar says:

I remember playing with these in preschool. Wow… And there were only four of us and only one other kid in the class wanted to play with them. The other two preferred the Hi Ho Cherrio game. Lucky us. But I remember these all too well… I want some now, actually.

  20. Kyle says:

These were also great for getting bruises if you pissed off that girl in first grade. I got my first fat lip from a cardboard brick wielding 7-year-old girl :-)

  21. Nik says:

Ya see, when I was in school, I was smart. I made the walls TWO bricks thick so the cootie infested girls couldnt get in….

  22. Rin says:

I want some of these now… …too bad the only place I know where to put them is IN MY ATTIC! :(

  23. Courtney says:

I loved these! Of course, my brother and I also incorporated other stuff into our brick forts and yes, we loved having wars to see who’s gets knocked down first by throwing stuff at them or play godzilla. . My doctor that I visit once a year though, she has pillow versions of these.

  24. Scales says:

YES! We had boxes of these in my school in the 90’s! We built kick ass forts bigger than us (which was what 2 feet?) And we would build them around people and watch them break out. O the memories…

  25. Mel says:

WOW! I’ve selfishly wanted my own set of these since kindergarten! You never really get to build what you want while “sharing”. Hee hee. I must buy a brickload of these NOW!

  26. Teagen says:

I never had these, but the kid down the street did. We went over to his house to play Super Nintendo and pretend to be Mario when it wasn’t our turn. I’m pretty sure I kissed him and he threw one at me. Heeheehee

  27. samanthaaa! says:

    i loveeeeed these. :D D
    they did make great forts.
but the boys & girls always had separate forts. xD
…that explains why we dont have recess in high school…lmao.

  28. Megan says:

i just got my son some of these for christmas last year!

  29. Aimee C says:

My preschoolers totally have these!! we make the most awesome forts during centers! :D

  30. billy b. says:

oh my god… we had these in my sunday school and i loved building forts with them…
not nearly as fun when the other kids beaned them at you when you had a lack of fort, though. 0.x
