Epic Win: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Commercial

Submitted by M Block

The famous ad campaign from the ’70s and ’80s that launched the candy, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups boasted “two great tastes that taste great together.” Surprisingly clever, eh? Makes you wonder if that’s how they thought to combine ham and pineapple on a Hawaiian pizza. OK, maybe it doesn’t.

MsMsBurning replied:

Had to be at least 1975.
Yes, I’m that old.

Incorrect source or offensive?

So, the one guy was just walking down the street, eating peanut butter straight from the jar?

    • Indian says:

I have seen a lot of fat people eat peanut butter straight from the jar. They wonder why they keep gaining weight.

  7. Uncle Jake says:

It may have been an epic ad, but it hardly “launched” Reese’s PB Cups — they’ve been on the market since 1928 and were best sellers when I was a kid back in the ’40s.

  8. canuck says:

I remember these ones too with ppl just walking along eating peanut “buttah” from the jar! Too funny…

I can still sing the reese’s commercial sung with opera… I saw it when I was 6 years old and still remember it 29 years later. Quite effective advertising. :D

  11. Ann says:

Am I the only person who thought of how Family Guy totally took that and made it different? It made me laugh.
