Epic Win: Vanilla Ice’s “TMNT Ninja Rap”

Submitted by Carl P

This was the greatest video ever when I was a kid.

Well put, Carl P. Each element of the video itself leaves something to be desired, whether it’s the dancing (fail), the lyrics (fail), or Vanilla Ice himself (epic fail), but tie all these things together into one of the greatest film franchises of our childhood, and you’ve got an epicdoubleplusmeganostalgia win.

GO NINJA, GO NINJA, GO!

The rap was featured at the end of 1991’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. For those with short attention spans, be sure to skip ahead to 2:58 in the video to see the stupidest dance moves ever choreographed, and 3:52 where Ice talks about writing the song for the movie, proving that he is official the whitest person to have ever existed.

More Vanilla Ice craziness after the jump (and by craziness, I literally mean Vanilla Ice going crazy).

You might remember that Vanilla’s biggest hit, “Ice Ice Baby,” blatantly ripped off the bass line of Queen’s “Under Pressure.” Here’s a clip of Vanilla defending himself.

Years later, Vanilla Ice would go nuts on the set of MTV’s Top 25 Lame Videos and destroy the set with a baseball bat. My favorite part is when Chris Kattan yells, “No Vanilla!”

And earlier this year, Vanilla Ice apologized for everything.

Incorrect source or offensive?

    worst attempt at a comeback . . . ever!

  2. Margaret says:

    Second post!

  3. utaduta says:

i saw mr ice back in 7th grade, then again i won free tickets at a casino he was playing at. i will admit it was a good show! haha! he even did us the honnor of singing the go ninja song! :) he may be lame, but in a fun way.

  4. DoggySpew says:

    Hmmmmno.
I can’t ever give a win to Vanilla Ice.

  5. Vanilla Ice says:

    Ice Ice baby.

  6. whatwhat says:

SWEET! I totally loved the Turtles movies when they came out, as lame as they were. Are. And I loved the soundtracks! :D Of course I’d never seen the video for the Ninja Rap before… or at least I’d Brillo’d it out of my memories…

  7. Have you ever noticed how rap is just crap without the C?

  8. Good says:

    8th post!

  9. notolaf says:

    How gay was that?

Rhetorical question. I already know how gay it was.

  10. kirby says:

yea, umm.. not at all a fan of vanilla ice, but can’t help but give it to this one just because- to this day- i still catch myself saying “go ninja, go ninja, go” occaisionally.. that is all.

  11. Myth says:

Yes he is a tool. At least he admits he is a tool- Isn’t that the first step?

  12. Impetua says:

Seems like a lot of pelvic thrusting for a song/video that was “kept clean, you know, for the kids.”

And, were we trying to teach them how to dance like morons?

I can understand why this might be considered a win by some but it’s like it’s so fail that it’s win…

  13. Casa says:

Oooooh they were saying “Ninja” ok… that’s not what I thought. o0

  14. Kate says:

Oh man, I love Chris Kattan. “Vanilla!” and “Why did you tell him that?!?!”

  15. Jenna says:

    Love the song. Hate him.

  16. MWahatten says:

    ROFLMAO

Vanilla Ice. The reason Eminem even has a career.

Dig that plate-straight hair and the TOTALLY COOL ‘go ninja go ninja go’ chorus to go with the lil hip-thrust. I mean.. can you lose any more street cred in one swoop, and still run around thinking you’re hard core 20 years down the line?

If this was the comic turtles, they’d have stabbed him out of the need for decency to their name. But it was the movie turtles. Instead they Danced!

  17. mrsbmw says:

“you know, just keep it ice”

Haha. Ice. Is that slang for “lamer than lame has ever been”?

Song: Epic win for nostalgia value. Vanilla Ice: Epic fail for being Vanilla Ice.

  18. Maz says:

    I feel like throwing up

  19. jm says:

No way. The real jams were on the first TMNT soundtrack, with good stuff like Technotronic (feat. Ya Kid K). What you know about that??

  20. agg says:

k if it was for “the kids” then whats with all the pelvic thrusts?? just disturbing on so many levels

  21. The Archduke of Funk says:

The worst dance moves ever choreographed? I’ll admit they’re bad, awful even, but just look up any Beyonce music video and you’re bound to see worse. Even better, look up daggering. Apparently that’s a dance move now.

  22. The Pink Ranger says:

HAHA! this was what made the ninja turtles movie more fun to watch than the second Power Rangers movie.

  23. G says:

    Proves white guys can’t rap

  24. This was the coolest song ever when I was a kid…

  25. Alistaro says:

    This cannot fail.
