Are we running out of things to remember? Are we getting nostalgic about past Epic Wins now? This one was already posted before…
I vote that “D=” is a nostalgic win.
agreed.
I can honestly remember the commercial fro the 90’s, but not the gum…
MMmmm. Fruit Stripe. Wonderful chemical “fruity” flavors (which I liked) that lasted about 2 minutes before you were chewing something that tasted like wet cardboard.
No exaggeration – 2 minutes and that freaky flavor was a distant memory.
I remember the gum! Also one time with the tattoos on the gum, I decided to make myself a zebra by putting them all over my body, my mom wasn’t very pleased.. it was a mess!
Do you still have them all over your body and can we see, it sounds awesome?
I actually used to lick them to get them on. It worked better, and it was a nice flavor, since it was next to the gum. I wonder if it was toxic, hmmm…
No but I did read an article that said something about causing cancer I think.
they used to be selling them at the corner store near my place only five years ago. Then they replaced it with hubba-bubba. it’s not the same nostalgic feeling_
I just bought some of this yesterday. It’s my favorite gum of all time.
I really hated this gum, I was always worried that the freaky zebra would jump off the package at me and eat me alive.
Dude WTF?
Tasty, but the flavor was gone in 1.5 minutes. Even worse than bubblelicious.
Thats why you stuff the entire pack in your mouth in 1 minute intervals. Then it lasts like 10 mins.
Exactly. No pleasant nostalgia for me here.
YIPES! STRIPES! FRUIT STRIPE GUM. Good lord I remember that.
Me too!
Hrm… this is still a common product around here.
It’s the other beechnut products that I rarely see; Blackjack, Original Beechnut, and Clove gums.
Clove gum was awesome!! I can’t find it much either
I got REALLY sick to my stomach the first (and last) time I chewed this gum
They have Fruit Stripe gum at Wal-Mart
all i can find now is the fruit stripe with aspartame (which gives me migraines)
i liked the regular better
Aww sorry… This gum was always so much better tasting than Juicy Fruit, and even though it didn’t last as long, the ones I got always came in huge packs. ^_^
My mom found this for me at a candy store in edmonton just the other day, was a pretty wicked time for both of us. And in the past week I’ve seen the other beechnut gums (clove, blackjack and original) in 5 candy stores, 2 in banff, 1 in red deer and twice while in B.C so it is still out there!
They still make the fake tattoos!
I loved this stuff. I usually just swallowed the piece I was chewing before it lost it’s flavor.. because it tasted so damn good XD
Yaaay Fruit Stripe Erasers! XDD
Wow, I remember the second commercial very well! I always liked the gum, even though I preferred Hubba-Bubba or Bubblicious.
This was already an Epic Win.
Epic FAIL.
I remember that singing zebra from my youth in the late ’60s through early ’70s.
Then I remembered more after I saw that commercial clip over on tvparty.com some years ago.
they shoulda posted ouch bubble gum too.
This is a commercial that would work better in color.
I found this recently, a few years ago, and was eating it totally stoned in my college poetry class. Me and a friend tried to lick the tattoos and put them on and they came out so bad. I was laughing so hard I was crying.
rrr-repost!
Just the other day I asked me friend if she remembered the Fruit Stripe gum commercial. She said no. I sang a little bit of the song and she looked absolutely horrified. This gum is truly awful – after about a minute it tastes like you’re chewing on dryer lint.
the flavor lasts for only 30 seconds
loved this stuff….notsomuch anymore.
although the candy company that produces this bubble gum is a client of ours at work so yes, i get lots n lots of candy including this yipes gum. i can put in once piece and when it looses it’s flavor in 30 seconds i can pop in a new piece….nice having endless supplies of sugary sweet gum
Oh my gosh, I loved that gum. I would always have my mom get it for me, but now I don’t like it so much because the flavor just doesn’t last. But I still buy it from time to time as a sort of “back in time” deal.
The flavor lasted like 5 seconds
(reaction to fruitstripe) MMM-awww
