Epic Win: The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Submitted by Rosemary S
Based on A. A. Milne’s classic stories, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was an epic cartoon win. The show also dared to be darker than other animated programs from the late ’80s — remember that episode where Piglet was home alone during a storm? (I think there’s a peek of it in the intro.)
I love this theme song, too. Oh bother…

Truly the best cartoon ever.
haha, I still wake up in the morning telling myself “Gotta get up…” and it automatically morphs into the theme song.
You wake up with the theme music in your head too? O_O I am not alone!!
Not a chance! The original “The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh” was far, far better. My son watched it constantly (we rented it from the library on video disc – remember those?) and then taped it onto VHS when we got our very first old VCR. The theme song’s lyrics were so relevant to the whole story…”Deep in the Hundred Acre Woods, where Christopher Robin plays lies the enchanted neighborhood from Christopher’s childhood days. A donkey named Eeyore was his friend, and Kanga and little Roo. There’s Rabbit and Piglet and there’s owl, but most of all Winnie The Pooh. Winnie The Pooh, Winnie The Pooh, tubby little cubby old stuffed with fluff. Winnie The Pooh, Winnie The Pooh, willy nilly silly old bear!
So much more meaningful to the story than the TV show.
I think I still have thos on VHS, too. Ahh, the old days. (:
loved these! (secondd)
My brothers and I watched this every Saturday.
I used to love this cartoon! Now they just have My Friends Tigger and Pooh, which doesn’t even have Christopher Robin in it…
Me and my friend had a really long conversation about it once. We made up this really random story about how that new lass was keeping Christopher Robin a prisoner and manipulating Tigger and Pooh XD
-cries softly in a corner- My childhood, man! Winnie the pooh rocks!
My little brother (now age 23) used to watch this. One of the least annoying kid’s programs.
I agree. Some people have gotten something of value out of these cartoons, but I could never get into them as a kid. I was too spoiled from the original cartoons (good), the books (much better), and Peter Dennis’s audio version (AMAZING!)
wtf? That was supposed to be a reply to BAW.
I need more sleep.
I can’t agree. This was a total bastardization of Milne’s work. He’d whirl in his grave if he knew of it.
+1
(See my reply to foobarbaz above for clarification)
it may have been an 80’s cartoon, but as a 90’s kid, i loved it all the same.
dude i loved this..i totally have alot of them on vhs that were taped off of tv..along with all the awesome old commercials
OMFG, this is my favorite show of all time. ;____; Why won’t Disney release DVD boxed sets?!?
YES YES YES! I still have these on VHS and I will never give them up! =D
I. Loved. Pooh. No, seriously, I still have nearly EVERY video they ever made! Hearing that theme song actually made me extremely nostalgic for the days when I didn’t care about anything but my right to run around in underwear all day watching pooh bear and Bambi!! Ah, those were the days!
Did they ever make an episode based on the origional story ‘In which Piglet catches a heffalump’? That one used to scare the crap out of me as a kid, I think it was always my favourite though…
Yeah, I think they did make that episode but my favourite will always be the western episode! It was like the epitome of awesome!
Yes! I do believe they did! Haven’t seen the show in YEARS, miss it dearly, still know the theme songs… and of course Tigger’s song…
“The wonderful thing about Tigger, is that Tigger’s a wonderful thing, his tops are made out of rubber, and his bottom’s made out of springs. Bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy, fun fun fun fun fun. The wonderful thing about Tigger, is that I’m… the only one! Hoohoo”
Pooh is my all time favorite disney character. i loved the show. around my house somewhere there are vhs.
I LOVED this! I had some on VHS and watched them SO often! I was totally afraid of the heffalumps and woozles.
Haha, I loved Pooh, I watched the show all the time when I was little, and when I played Kingdom Hearts, I was awed by the blast from the past that is Pooh bear.
EPIC WIN!!! I loved this show! I remember getting up early in the mornings on weekends just for this. Definitely a big part of my childhood.
People from Disney reading this, PUT THESE ON DVD ALREADY!! Truly the best children’s TV cartoon from an age of great children’s TV cartoons.
Anyone remember the episode “Find her, Keep her” when Rabbit adopts a baby bird? I think that won an Emmy.
That was my favorite episode ever! I actually named one of our cats after the bird! Her name was Cassie, which I naturally translated “Kissy.” We kept kissy the cat for many years! <3
Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. I can’t think about how many times I watched that. It made me stop being afraid of storms as a little kid. And whoever voiced Pooh nailed it. Best voice casting EVER.
Oh my god, the nostalgia! Did anyone else used to (and still do) see the head in the background? You know, where Christopher Robin and Pooh are lying on the ground? They’re really mountains or clouds, but I always saw a head.
Oh, the great times with Pooh.
PS. Eyore is the original emo. No doubt about it.
oh my gawd dude this and batman and marvel comics were the most important things to me growing up i kinda felt my tear ducts wake up wen i clicked play on the youtube vid
Oh yeah! I remember waking up at like 7:00 and running to the T.V. to watch this(and singing the theme song as well)! I Remember this one so vividly!
This was made in the 80s? Woah, it was still on in the 90s and I loved it sooooo much as a tot.
I loved this show, but the ending theme used to depress me. (Like a lot of other shows)
i cry every time i hear the them song of the show
I still have these on VHS. Why, WHY do they not make kids like this anymore????!?!?!!?
I watched this everyday when I was little
And I have all the original Winnie The Pooh videos on VHS still
Goooooood times.
My favorite cartoon as a kid, we watched this every Sat.
Does anyone remember the episode where rabbit adopted that bird as his son? It was like tackling both issues of gay and single parenting.
Ugh. American bastardisation of the A.A. Milne classics. Awful!
The original books though? EPIC EPIC EPIC win.
Disney raped winn the pooh. I grew up on the stories and the disneyfication that happened to my childhood memories is nothing short of evil
ground hog day int he 100 acre woods for god sake!!
Finally a Win I recognize! xD I was beginning to worry I was too young to check out NW.
