Epic Win: Rice Krispies Treats Cereal

Submitted by Christina N
I can’t believe parents ever let their kids eat this stuff: it was Rice Krispies Treats… for breakfast. Regardless, these were a delicious, sugary way to start your day. Epic win, for sure.
Though they’re not available in grocery stores, you can still find Rice Krispies Treats cereal online. One of the product reviews on Amazon said the boxes she received had expired, though.
What other sugar cereals were epic wins?

Just saw this yesterday in Wal-Mart, lol
Wow cool not. You have a tiny acorn.
Yeah… These really aren’t very old and are still in stores all over the place. It’s in the Meijer down the street from me. This doesn’t belong here.
WHAT where do you live- I’ve been on a lifelong quest since they took them off the shelves
Could we just stop calling still-existing brands a Nostalgic Win?
Yeah, not to mention things that aren’t even that old…
Your mom is old but id still do her.
Completely agree.
Well, maybe they should change the site name to epic win, not nostalgic win. Besides they just brought back rice krispies treat cereal, it had disappeared for awhile.
I haven’t seen or ate these in years
I want some now. You sure Wal-Mart has them?
I just got a box the other day at a Meijer store. But to be honest I had forgotten about their existence for years until I saw this on the vote pages. I thought they were gone myself. The box is a little different now – might be the reason they seem elusive.
Thats cause they were actually pulled from the market! Recently they were reinstated… and i have drive 60 miles to find the nearest place that sells these… not worth it, and not worth ordering online… my long lost dreams taunting me…
In the 80s there was a cereal called Rocky Road, and it was created by General Mills. The cereal was made up of balls of cornmeal, chocolate-covered balls of cornmeal and chocolate-covered marshmallows. It was the only junky cereal my Mom would buy (she liked it too) but the quit selling it.
I LOVED this cereal. I can’t seem to find it in my city… but now I want to have some!
Some other cereals I liked: Waffle Crisp! Can’t find that ANYWHERE, why did they stop selling it? It was my favorite ever! This is the most frustrating one of my whole list, because I loved it THAT much. Bring it back!! I love Waffle Crisp!!
Stay away from the toilet and you will not experience this flavor.
Dude, YES! I was thinking that too! That’s more of a WIN than Rice Krispies Treats Cereal. How about something even more WIN like Pop Tarts cereal. The only Pop Tarts I would eat when I was 8! Come to think of it, when someone said they saw this at Wal-Mart, I kinda sorta remember seeing it there too, only I live in Hawaii. Must be an ICH thing…
ew, fail! this stuff was sticky and uuber-sweet, even for my (then)8 year old mouth. yuck! >:P
Anyone remember Ice Cream Cones cereal? OMG that was amazing…
Yes, I most certainly do. Only tried one box though. Still preferred Honey Nut Cheerios.
I loved Ice Cream Cones.. i can still remember the jingle from the commercial
Yeah, you can def still get these at Wal Mart. As a matter of fact, I had a bowl last night. Its more of a late-night snack food as opposed to a coma inducing “breakfast.” Best way to start the day… not so much.
I simply loved eating them plain, or better yet, make rice krispie treat treats! Now, that tasted awesome!
I bet you taste awesome.
Actually, the sugar content on this cereal is TONS better than most of the sugared cereal out there. We only buy cereal with less than 10 grams of sugar and this is a fave of my kids at only 9 grams a serving, which is less than Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Honey Nut Cheerios, etc…
Favorite cereal, still find it all the time at Stop and Shop. How about poptarts cereal?
Boo Berry, and the other “Monster” cereals. Count Chocula, Frankenberry, and Boo Berry are still on the market, but Fruity Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute are long gone.
I rarely see Frankenberry or Boo Berry in stores, except around Halloween. They are great cereals though.
I vaguely remember eating Oreo-Os about 10 years ago. They actually made Oreos into cereal, but it wasn’t around long.
mmmm… oreo-o’s were yummy!
I vaguely remember what your face looks like. I was so drunk and you were facing the other direction bent over.
Those were amazing. I miss them terribly.
Oh! I remember Pop-Tarts cereal! That was crazy stuff. But I can buy Rice Krispie Treats cereal right now at the Schnucks down the street. Love it.
How about Hidden Treasure Cereal? It had 3 different colored pieces (maybe that was the knockoff brand though) but you can always peek and see if the piece was empty if you knew how.
Anyone remember Lucky Charms before the marshmallows went into ridiculous shapes…
pink heart, red balloon, orange star, yellow moon, green clover, blue diamond, purple horseshoe. I know purple and red were later ones. I also remember Christmas tree shapes during December.
Oh and what ever happened to the two other Cinnamon Toast Crunch guys, Bob and Quello? They were much better than Wendell.
Yes! I loved that Hidden Treasure Cereal! I never liked Lucky Charms, though.
Nothing wrong with these, that’s for sure… My question is this; the person who ordered them from Amazon said they’d expired. Er… other than the date on the box, how would you know? (Or would you care? Not me…regular RC treats just get a bit harder, but they’re still delicious!)
I do miss Count Chocula, Frankenberry, and Boo Berry… I don’t see them around here (except, as stated, around Halloween) but they were tasty treats. *grin*
They totally sell this in my wal-mart, but it’s like, $4 a box. :/
What about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cereal? That stuff was the best back when I was a kid.
So do the turtles taste like chicken too?
Saw these at Kroger’s this week, too…
What is misleading the original submitter (and who knows HOW long ago this was submitted for NW), is that certain low-volume cereal types are only made for short runs, during the seasons research has shown that they sell well.
For example, Frosted Rice Crispies appears to be a defunct brand for US distribution, but last year Dollar General stores got 1-2 shipments of them in for a one-time sale, and they haven’t been seen since.
(and the boxes seem to indicate Canada as a point of origin – after all, the DolGen chain and its copies will often import name-brand products if they find a better deal than buying the US version, which bit them in the arse a few years ago when they imported “South African” Colgate that was actually counterfeit, made in China, with toxic ingredients and packaged in a box printed using a scan of the SA retail box – but I digress).
Others have noted how the Halloween supplies of the spooks’ cereals seem to go up. The major cereal producers also occasionally produce movie-tie-in cereals for short runs. IT could be that the “rare” cereals that see occasional release are made on those product lines, as to keep them in use making product, between the product placement contracts, as a result appearing and disappearing on an irregular schedule.
I immediately thought of Cookie Crisp. Does that still exist? I could only get it at my friend’s house because my mother never bought sugar cereal. All we ever had was Nutragrain flakes and Shredded Wheat (the kind with no yummy frosting whatsoever). She wouldn’t even get Raisin Bran because of the sugar on the raisins.
Fail. Pork in them
WTF? I saw these the other day at Meijer! (Midwest only store)
Frankenberry and Count Chocula, top those.
And no one bring up Malt o Meal or Maypo.
I must have these now. And I don’t care what lengths I have to go through to get them. You will be mine, Rice Krispies Treats Cereal.
Alpha-bits
Sugar smacks
two cereals I always wanted but mom refused to buy because of sugar saturation.
I’m all for real sugar in my cereal.
Honey is for the losers.
Since when did Alpha-Bits have sugar? Maybe I just never had them that often to remember. I remember it being just like Lucky Charms without the marshmallows.
Yep, this is definately in walmarts =) yummm
Glad these are still around, but I haven’t seen them locally for years. I last remember them in the blue box without Snap, Crackle and Pop on the box. I loved this stuff.
By the way, has anybody noticed that regular rice krispies don’t make the same noise when you add milk anymore?
I actually saw these in a commercial for something else the other day. It must’ve been a commercial for a store or something, they were just there in an aisle and I’m like “they still make those?!” and my fiancee was way too excited for his own good. He says it’s his all-time favorite cereal.
I still cannot buy sugary cereal. I am torn between being upset that as an adult I can’t do something I promised myself I would as soon as I was free from parental authority and being thankful my mother taught us good eating habits.
There is no question about it… The most epic cereals in the world (that are unfortunately not discontinued) were Frenchtoast Crunch (toast shaped cereal with maple syrup flavors) and Nesquik Cereal (looked like a smaller version of Cocoa Puffs, but tasted 234230948 times better).
RIP delicious cereals.
*now
You can still find this at wal-mart
