Epic Win: Flintstones Push-Ups

Once Upon A Win

Submitted by C Matlack

The Flintstones got branded on a lot of awesome foods — cereal, soda, even vitamins — but their popsicles, sherbet Push-Ups, were the best. Great for a hot summer day, but boy did those things melt fast!

  1. Fuzzi says:

Push-ups are great, but they have not always been “Flintstones” push-ups. The Flintstone branding didn’t happen until many many long years after the product was introduced. Nostalgia historical fact FAIL.

  2. MUBNUT says:

These things were delicious. Flintstone or not.

  3. Redd says:

You actually held on to them long enough for them to melt?! I gobbled these down as fast as I could whenever I got one.

  4. RetroBebop86 says:

I remember you could make the flintstone car using the tubes as wheels and cut out pieces from the box!

  5. ThirdLaw says:

I agree! They melted so fast! But when they were frozen they were excellent. They had the consistency of chocolate but tasted like oranges. Definitely an epic win.

  6. toribug11 says:

mine never melted, i always ate them in about two seconds. do they still sell these anywhere?? i’d cheerfully kill to get my hands on some.

  7. jinny_1909 says:

I remember waiting in line at the market when the power was out just so I could get one of these cheap (I think I was 6?) and by the time I had gotten mine, it was already almost melted but I loved every messy bit of it! I still love them!

  8. Anon says:

I used to search for these fruitlessly at the markets but my school had a fresh supply every day some how. It made me feel safe inside.

:3 I love these things. I could eat eleventy million of them if I could

  9. Stick says:

It was good for half, when it was forzen, but it sucked when you pushed it up and melted crap would cascade all over yourhands and made you all sticky.

  10. Margar says:

I never liked these. too hard to eat (for me as a little kid) and tasted gross. I never did like orange-flavored stuff.

  11. Xweetara says:

I’m sorry, but I could never really stand these things. Even when i was really little I always though Push-Up pops were too heavily flavored and sour.

  12. pat says:

yum those are so good but you had to eat them fast or you got soup

  13. Anonymous says:

I can still find Push-Ups here, but I remember the Flintstones pops. XD

They have Scooby Doo on them now.

  14. Bwggy says:

I preferred the Flintstones Chewable Morphine

  15. cee says:

Oh man, I had totally forgotten about these until now…LOVED them. My little brother and I would gobble them down and then rip open the tube.

  16. Amelia says:

Uh… Is it just me, or does Fred Flinstone have jaundice…?

  17. brmbug says:

You know, I sometimes miss those little Mod geometric designs that they had on there before they went all Flintstones all the time.

    • Stick says:

You can still get them where I live, but sometimes you’ll find those with a picture of a terrifing clown.

  18. Meg-Meg says:

There’s a smarties version of this. It’s vanilla ice cream with bits of smartie in, and when you’ve finished, there’s a load of smarties in the handle.

  19. Elise says:

I totally remember these! Who else used to sneak a second one out of the freezer after they finished their first? I’ve never been able to find orange sherbet that tastes as good as these were.

  20. catgirl says:

I remember freezer clean-out day at my babysitter’s house. The oldest kids got to pick first, and these were always the first to go.

  21. Samosa says:

I remember eating this ONCE, but my parents stopped buying them for the sugar content. ):

  22. Girlfoxgirl says:

I could never push it up right! I always messed it up. ><

  23. Cat says:

i was just thinking about these! i loved push-ups (or pushpops.. that’s what i always called them). next time i go to 7-11 i’m totally getting one =]

  24. Waldo says:

So good! I can relate to this site, and it’s cool!

  25. me says:

they melt to fast. and the flavor was weird.

  26. Rich says:

Original Pushups has a wooden stick that was pushed thru a grommet/hole in a cardboard disc that pushed the ice cream up, then they went to the plastic parts that kill animals in the ocean.

    Now?

I just do the Victoria’s Secret push ups, I like the padded kind with the clasp in front.

  27. Dillan says:

Wow, I’m only 15 years old and I remember these from when I was around 5. I had one everyday when the ice cream truck drove past my house. Good days.

  28. kirby says:

yummy yummy yumness! Never knew these as anything other that Flintstone (21) but I remember the taste and am now salivating.. intense!

  29. withme92 says:

YES! They still have these right?

  30. Baracudaboy says:

Those were and still are my favorite store bought icecream!

  31. Zero says:

Holy crap I loved these things. None of the other brands ever tasted as good as Flintstones. Does anyone know if they still make this brand? Cause if so, I want some >D

  32. CareBear says:

I went to the grocerey store the other day.
    I saw these.
    I bought them.
    It filled me with glee.

  33. Jeej says:

I don’t remember the character endorsement, but I remember them being orange flavor, and maybe (straw)berry with little seeds. Did they have any other flavor?
They were not nearly as good as REAL ice cream in a cone, but I loved them anyway. It always seemed like they ended too fast.

(Push POPs were a hard candy in a plastic sleve like a Chapstick.)

  34. blah says:

OH MY GOD! I completely forgot about these until now! I looooooooved these things! I would pay 10 bucks for one right now.

  35. heidi says:

those made my vomit when i was little :(
