Epic Win: Polly-O String Cheese
Submitted by Arin L
String cheese was all the rage at lunch time. Polly-O’s brand of peelable mozzarella was the most popular, and for a tasty, (somewhat) healthy snack, you couldn’t do better than string cheese. The band String Cheese Incident is not an epic win, though.

String cheese is the best. I am sure you can still get a hold of it somewhere. If you can’t, my reasons to keep living just vanished.
Have you tried, oh say, any grocery store?
Do you know any Swedish grocery stores that carry or have ever carried string cheese? Please share that info!
To clarify: Since it popped up under “nostalgic” I made the mistake of thinking it was less available today than … at some time earlier in history. If this is not the case, I am happy, but confused about what the “nostalgic” part of it would be.
Nostalgia simply refers to things you remember from earlier parts of your life- the continued availability of the product doesn’t necessarily stop something from qualifying (though it is true that not being available anymore would probably enhance the nostalgia). If you remember eating string cheese all the time as a kid and loving it, you’re going to feel nostalgic about it.
This!
we have it in the UK but its called cheesestring and you can get different types of it as well!
Ooer. Do most places, like tescos and asda have it? Just so I know where to go!
Here in Canada, or at least in central Alberta, we’ve always called it Cheese Strings. Looking on this thread, I felt like “String Cheese” sounded a little odd, and then I came across your comment about Cheese Strings and the nostalgic part hit me hard, lol
Indeed, CheeseStrings brand is still very active, very available, and still advertising.
Yum, I still like string cheese.
Am I the only one who’s noticed that when you say Polly-O it strangely sounds like polio?
On a side note, there was a grocery store that sold that string cheese that was open in my area until a few months ago when Publix bought it out and razed it.
No no, I hear the polio, too. String cheese is everywhere guys. Wal-Mart, Publix, Winn-Dixie, etc. Where have you guys been hiding? Under rocks? String cheese is widely available.
I knew I wasn’t going crazy.
If I want string cheese I go top my nearest Aldi and grab me a bag of about 40 sticks for… around 10 bucks.
Aldi? We don’t have those around here. We have Sams though. It’s a division of Walmart, only everything is sold in bulk.
String Cheese Incident is most definitely an epic win. Arin L is an ass.
Agreed. String Cheese Incident is indeed a win.
This is something I’ve been wondering about. Are the descriptions of the wins written by the submitter of each one, or by the owner of the site?
It’s the site owner unless it’s in quotes, then it’s the submitter. This one seems to be the site owner.
Ah. Then I apologize to Arin L. The site owner is an ass.
He’s an ass because he has a differing opinion?
It’s trolling. It’s an opinion if a reason is given.
Thanks! Arin L. here. I didn’t write that caption at all. Mine would’ve been much better, I would’ve at least commented on how freaking cheesy (no pun intended) those kids were at the end.
This commercial is a win. I loved it as a kid, thought it was hilarious.
Ugh, I feel sick just looking at those things. (Lactose intolerance. Blech.)
Can’t we just have string cheese as a win? I cna’t be the only one who had offbrand.
I think that this Polly-O brand had to be regional to wherever the comment writer lived/lives as I’ve never even heard of it. This should read more like “Polly-O’s brand of peelable mozzarella was the most popular where I grew up…” In my old neck of the woods, it was Country Fresh, not polio cheese.
It was Polly-O here too but I always got Superfresh’s generic America’c Choice.
String cheese is STILL a WIN.
Incident?
string cheese as well as string cheese incident are both epic wins..
they still make the Polly-O brand String cheese on the east coast & Kraft has Marketed it under there name out west (Kraft Polly-O) BTW it’s a New England company Polly-O Mozzarella is BIG in NY. oh and there’s enough calcium in one stick of string cheese daily to help keep kids teeth healthy.
The incident is pretty much a win, in my book, even if you think not, OP.
I always thought that stuff was disgusting
I grew up in Wisconsin. This individually wrapped Polly-O stuff is a poor, poor substitute for the REAL string cheese you can get up there. It’s one solid chunk of mozzarella that has identifiable “stick” outlines in it. You actually peel one of these off the chunk and then peel it apart. That kind has SO much more flavor, and was SO much stringier. Unfortunately, just like cheese curds (YUM!), you can’t get this kind outside of Wisconsin.
Here’s the best pic I could find: http://www.timandtomscheeses.com/images/products/cheese_string.jpg
weird, im watching star wars and am eating polly-o string cheese now!!!
The String Cheese Incident IS epic win. Don’t be a hater.
weird. I’m eating some right now. haha
I have this in my fridge. Mmmm…
