Sadly, the show did jump the shark when Eric became progressively more stupid. The more contrived the situations got, the more ridiculous his behavior got, the more I thought he was on a one-way trip to serial killerhood. The series finale was a wonderfully inspired bit of work, but they really should've just ended it after high school. The college years were so contrived. I shouldn't ignore the moments of two-level humor. Every so often, one of the adults characters would drop a reference that would fly right over the heads of a young audience. I remember Feeney looking out the high school classroom window wistfully pining for St. Eligius... I'm amazed to discover there actually was a full opening title sequence. The last few first-run seasons had a very abbreviated one (there was a convertible involved, right?) and the whatever-they-were-calling-ABC-Family-that-week reruns had none at all. Credits were title cards overlaid on the first act.

Love this show. It never jumped the shark for me. Can’t think of a show where the main characters who are in their adolescence grow up to go to college during the course of the show and the quality went down.

My favorites were Shawn and Angela.

They actually make jokes about Topanga “blossoming” so quickly in their commentary on one of the seasons. And, the season where she does come back, the writers wrote it in the season that all the boys flipped out over her.

They didn’t get married at 18. They got engaged at 18, because Topanga asked Corey to marry her. It may not happen all the time… but it does happen. They didn’t get married until after the first year or two in college.

this was on disney channel first time we got it on basic cable, (a couple of years ago) but i think it was some of the latest seasons, cause i cant remember this intro. anyway. hahah always hated topanga. lmao. and i always felt it was kinda weird that he the teacher was so much “around” hmm.. i bet there’s tons of fanfiction on that. haha.

I know exactly when it happened. It was at high school graduation when the show became retarded and the 2 18-year-olds got married. Pretty much every season before that (not that many I might add) was actually funny. Then it got all preachy and unbelievable.

I just recently watched the series finale of this, and ohmygod I bawled my eyes out. I usually don’t get all that emotional over shows like that, but that episode was so sad. It was like having flashbacks of my own childhood and knowing that it’s all over. Of course it IS over, but there wasn’t some big moment to end it like in sitcoms.
Anyway, this was seriously one to the best shows from my childhood. I was and still am completely in love with it. Maybe that’s why the last episode made me cry.

The show had one of the biggest shark jumps in history. It started as a hilarious and lovable sitcom, but suddenly turned into a soap opera. When did it happen? It’s been too long for me to remember if Shawn first joined the Cult or met his long-lost brother and got abandoned by his dad. All of a sudden the whole show became all whiney, dull and dramatic.
But on a different note: Who could have known that Will Friedle would become a very talented voice actor?

I liked the 1st season, when Minkus was there, and Topanga was still cool and out there. I liked the Cherry Bomb Mailbox Killer episode the best though…that one and the one where they found out that their Mom was sneaking around on their Dad, with their Dad!
