Epic Win: Keebler Magic Middles Cookies
Submitted by Tiffany P
We’ve heard of chocolate-covered cookies, but never cookie-covered chocolate. Keebler’s Magic Middles Cookies were a unique treat — crunchy cookie encasing a gooey chocolate center. How did they get the chocolate in there? It was magic, duh.
But suddenly, Keebler stopped selling them. We’re not sure why Magic Middles Cookies were discontinued, but as far as we know, nobody has ever made a cookie like it since.

Well, there are the “Hello Panda” cookies from Japan. They’re similar, of course more round in shape and smaller. I only vaguely remember the Magic Middles, and that’s the closest I know of. Good stuff.
I was just about to mention that!
Those are an Epic Win in their own right, but not an acceptable substitute for magic middles.
Magic middles were my favorite cookie when they were in production. My mom, who was normally skeptical of sugary snake treats that advertised on Nickelodeon also liked them, and when they were discontinued, speculated that Keebler should have marketed them to adults rather than children, and this misreading of the market was what did them in.
Damnit, I really want some right now, and no one makes anything even close. Fufufufufufufufufu…
Ah, I remember those! They rocked!! Wish they still made them.
I would slaughter a whole pile of puppies to get my hands on a box of these…mmmmmmmm
OH! I remember those! Ohhhhhhh not faair! I can remember exactly how they tasted and just being sooooooooo friggin’ goooooood. GAH! Now I want some!
Yeah, but now if they started making them now, they would probably taste like crap. I’m a 80’s kid and a lot of stuff that was a round then, but was taken away and is made now, like Jello Pudding Pops… they are just not the same.
disagree. both my parents liked magic middles, so I’m pretty sure this is one that will still taste great now that we’re grown up… which makes it all the worse they’re gone and probably will never be back.
Man I was so freakin’ mad when they quit selling these. Actually, I still am! These were AWESOME!
Koala cookies (sometimes called Koala March) cookies are very similar, and come in different flavors too, including strawberry. As a bonus, they look like koalas.
those are also epic win but just aran’t a substitute.
also, a tiny box of those Koala things was like, the same price as a big box of middles.
Oooooh, sorry people. They were just wrong. For as much as I liked sweets back then, I could not stomach them. Maybe I ate too many one day, got sick, and blocked it out. Who knows. Bah…
Yes, I do miss them *sigh* On a happier note, I have come pretty close to making them at home, by taking snicker doodle dough and sandwiching chocolate chips in before baking…..
snickerdoodle is one word…..stupid spell check!
I’m now going to call flipping some one off “giving them the Magic Middle.”
In “Mrs. Fields Best Ever Cookie Book” (Time-Life Books, 1997) there is a recipe called “Chocolate Dreams” that is really close to these. They’re pretty easy to make, too.
OMG!!! THOSE THINGS WERE SO FREAKIN GOOD!
I actually have a recipe, so I make my own.
for the love of god can i have that recipe?
Why, Keebler?! Those cookies look so good! Iam addicted to chocolate!
Our favorite restaurant makes cookies that work/look/taste exactly like Magic Middles, except without that “loads of preservatives and trans fats” tang.
These were the #1 best cookie for playing Super Mario.
Where is this restaurant and what is it called I have to know!!!!
i never had 1 DX. I WANT ONE SO BAD. i dont really like chocolate but it looks so GOOD!!!!! i r sad
Oh, these were frickin’ delicious! I wish they had been around during my stoner phase.
