Epic Win: Floaty Pens

Submitted by Sarah C
Who could forget the naked floaty pens that it seems everyone’s Dad owned at one point or another. We’d sneak them so we could see the lady’s dress come off and have a laugh. Other than that, Floaty pens were also a great way to commemorate family trips or to show off to your friends at school where you’d traveled that summer.

O GOD O GOD I was the first vote… I dunno if I can handle this kind of responsibility
*facepalm*
I got a mickey mouse one of these once when I went to disneyland Paris.
oh yea, i got this cute one from there too, it had lady and the tramp floating to each other with the spaghetti. awww :]
That sounds too cute for words!
I had a cute one with a little hearse going through a cemetery.
I would so want that one- I have an old Bell Telephone pen.
If you move the pic up and down fast the pens do the bendy pen trick.
What’s a floaty pen?
Floaty pens originated in 1946 from a company in Denmark called, Eskesen. The top portion of a floaty pen is clear and filled with a special blend of oil. With the tip of the pen a photo image moves up/down or back/forth inside the window, over a background scene creating a sense of movement. Thousands of floaty pens have been made. They are usually sold at souvenir stands, tourist traps, businesses, airports and the like. The most famous floaty pens are tip n strips. A model is dressed, until the pen is tipped and the model is undressed. This item is often found way in the back of grandpa’s desk drawer. Float pens are fun, inexpensive and collectible.

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A FLOATY PEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ah floaty pens.
I remember I had a book when I was little that used a floaty pen as a tie in to the book. I also remember owning about a hundred of them and thinking they were amazing.
I still collect floaty pens, I have almost 200
I had a Star Fox one where the Arwing would fly from one end to the other. I would mess with that thing for HOURS.
I chewed on one as a kid. The oil inside tastes nasty.
My best friend once got me a lion king floaty pen, and it was my favourite pen for a long long long time. I still had the floaty part of it before I left for college, since the ink had run out I just kept the back half. I think reason prevailed and I threw it out though
