Epic Win: High Fidelity
High Fidelity was an Epic Win of the ’90s and a quintessential film for anyone who enjoys quality music… And hipsters. High Fidelity is the movie we all wish we could sit down and force-feed to every teeny bopper who has no idea what it means to listen to really enjoy music. It also helps that it’s got the likes of John Cusak, Jack Black, and Tim Robbins in it.

Lolololololol first.
i love this movie! i love john cusak! <3 i have also read the book, its very similar, just more british! ha!
Yep, that’s pretty much my friends and I.
High Fidelity came out 2000. It’s not even 10 years old yet…
True. But it’s very funny, it has John Cusack, it’s one of Jack Black’s best roles, and it pays respect to the music lover’s culture of record stores and the collector’s life. Kind of a nod to the good times, even if it’s not an old movie.
I agree isn’t it a little soon for nostalgia?
The book is really good too. It reminded me of people like me.
Oh God yes!! High Fidelity is one of the best movies ever! Every audiophile in existence can relate to John Cusack’s Rob on some level.
Such a great movie and indeed a win!
Great movie, but not really a nostalgic win if it just came on TV this morning.
rock on. this movie is the best. they actually filmed the high school scenes at my high school, Lane Tech. i remember all the damn seniors got to audition to be extras, but i was just a sophomore so i got screwed.
I love this movie, but I hardly think it’s old enough to warrant being on this site for nostalgia…
No fair, I love all the actors and music but I hate this movie. XD
book was far superior
yes I agree…I must pile on the obligatory “the book was better” argument.
But I did enjoy the film, they left in the good bits. Casting was crucial with this film as well. (not so great with the redo of Fever Pitch, baseball WTF?)
I think Nick Horby’s “about a boy” was a great book, but they did an awesome job with the movie.
agreed. although, I haven’t read Fever Pitch yet. I did see the movie, it was cute and people who haven’t read the book yet will like it.
sure, this movie is not that old, but it addresses a sub culture/pov that is not well represented in mainstream movies. so you look back with nostalgia at what you have to look back at.
I thought the characters were obnoxious. If this is a sub culture, then I think it might be best left unaddressed.
PS, since when is an affinity for music a sub culture?
This movie was awful. Disney completely bastardized what made book so great in the first place. The book had a lot more spirit and soul to it and was far better (kinda like The Crow).
This film was out in 2000…how is this a blast from the past? This belongs on Fail Blog.
What’s with all the haters? Who cares when it was made? This is a website for entertainment purposes, not a research resource. High Fidelity is an awesome movie and I’m sure that this post gives many people a good laugh.
Get your patchouli stink out of my store!!
There were only two good things about this movie.
1: John Cusack.
2: John Cusack kicking Tim “I’m a hippy gasbag” Robbins in the face. Word is, much like the toaster shot in “Scrooged” that knocked Bill Murray cold, Cusack aimed a little deep and broke dipsh*t’s nose.
