Epic Win: Guess Who?

guess-who

Submitted by Kayla B

“Is your person a man?”
“Does he have a beard?”
“Is he wearing glasses?”
“Is your person Andy?”

What a great game of questions. The best were when the questions started to get a little too creative, such as, “Do you think you could take your person in a fight?” And there was also the fun game of taping photos of friends, family and celebrities over the cards.

» 33 Blasts From The Past

  1. TVDK says:

I remember being extremely disappointed when the commercial said “Game cards do not actually talk.”

  2. M says:

Heh, I liked this game alot as a child. Good memories :)

  3. bodo says:

We have a version of this at home and there are only four (three?) females…kind of a fail in that regard if you get one of them. “Is your person a girl?” *sigh* “Yes.”
    .
Not too many more questions after that…maybe we got a defective one?

  4. boaks says:

LOVED this game! Played it with my 4th grade boyfriend all the time :-P For some reason, you almost always won if you got Richard. And there was some definite gender bias, only 3 or 4 females?? You were definitely screwed if you got a female, or a minority.

  5. Most epic game of guess who ever (link)

  6. Libby says:

My crowning achievement was when I was around five years old and asked on my first turn, “Is your person a lady with flowers in her hat?” AND GOT IT RIGHT.

  7. Krepta says:

What excites me is that they’ve introduced an electronic version in recent years. At long last, game cards DO actually talk!

  8. sassy says:

I was such a cheater at this game, i would set up each board differently but memorize the order, haha i always won and my friends never knew how i did it, good times

  9. Meg-Meg says:

My younger brother’s childminder has one of these. She has a police car version of it too…

  10. Debbie says:

There was only 4 females (perhaps 5). I was so anti cheating. lol. Although I remember once I put all the girls in a row. I just never flipped my person down until the very end.

  11. Chai says:

I remember that I only wanted the game to be able to flip down the little people. It made a cool sound and was on par with the bubble pop dice in Trouble. Simple joys!

  12. Sarah says:

And there was that ugly lady, Anne.

That was always our first question:
Is your person UGLY ANNE???? Hmmmm??

    • Allison says:

      We used to ask
“Does your guy look like my sister’s ex-boyfriend?
“The one who still lives at home with his mom?”
      “Yeah that guy.”
      “No. Thank God.”

  13. Emilie says:

Does he have an egghead? It’s Bill!

  14. MK says:

Holy Iceland, I completely forgot about this game. I think I still have it somewhere…I loved playing it so much.

  15. mizz kitteh says:

I always wanted this game…NEVER got it. *cries*
    …Damn you, Santa!

    • Are says:

I know! I never got it either, I would beg for it, because of the stupid “I know, it’s David!” commercials!

  16. Allison says:

My mom brought over a box from her garage when she visited me last Fall. It had all of my old board games in it. Battleship, Jenga, Ready Set Spaghetti*, and Guess Who!
My kids loooove playing Guess Who with us. And the rounds go quickly, so I can play it with them whil I cook dinner.
    * Ready Set Spaghetti, now that was fun. Someone should nominate that game.

  17. bigtoenail says:

My friend got a Spanish-language game for some reason, and we started playing where you pick 2 people instead of one. Gets pretty interesting.

“Does either of your people have black hair?”
    “Yes.”
    “Which one?”

“Is one of your people male?”
    “No.”
“Are both of your people male?”
    “Yes.”
    “…I hate you.”

    • lissylulubelles says:

Oh! My sister and I loved playing doubles too! It’s half-past-midnight, and I want to ring her up right now and tell her to bring it over… Must. Play. NOW. hee hee!

Our favourite question: “Does your person have hair on his face?” covers more than beard/moustache. We thought we were soooo tricky.

I also agree with the Click-Clack-Click noise of snapping down the cards. I used to save ‘em up sometimes, wait for the next question and whack ‘em all down at once, for that psychological edge on your lil sis. We were all about the mind games.

How to win Guess Who in one move!

    Otherwise, a great game.

  19. kitty says:

i remember going to my cousins house, and i always wanted to play this game

  20. Gemma says:

I love guess who. I still play it with my flatmates, and yeah you are screwed if you pick a girl! I used to love bill cos his head looked like an egg. Every young boy secretly fancied Maria….. I always thought she should go out with robert. Haha and if I thought the other person had Claire i waould ask…. does your lady look like Jessica Fletcher?

  21. nonone says:

Yup, I agree, fail… “game cards do not actually talk”, hehehe.

  22. Thom says:

Game cards do not actually talkā„¢

  23. Hime Takamura says:

they needed more girls… I would play this with my sister and we would always get to choose which person we wanted.
