Epic Win: Mr. Bean
Submitted by knuckles 66
Where would British comedy be without Mr. Bean. Nevermind the ridiculous American movies he made, those are junk. We’re talking about the old Mr. Bean sketch comedy where Mr. Bean would do things like steal another man’s pants while he’s sitting on the toilet, or the time he gave anesthesia to his dentist. That’s the old Mr. Bean we remember and love.

Epic win indeed.
No one beats mr.bean, more than an epic win
Mr Bean was the best comedy series ever. nothing can beat it. I remember the best one was when he was decorating. of course the Mr bean way, by putting explosives in a paint can. just as it explodes someone comes in to pick up his hat and there’s an outline of a guy holding a hat. you have to see it to fully appreciate it but it is the best.
I discovered Bean when I was doing dishes as a kid and my dad was channel surfing and fell asleep on PBS. All I thought was, “Crap, now I have to sit here and watch some dumb British comedy.” Best accident evar.
The Chrisrmas one is the best! My family watches it every year.
Irma – “Have you got the turkey on?”
Bean – “After a fashion…”
Love it!
The whole manger scene kills me every time.
Helicopter angel!
My kids got me the Ultimate Mr. Bean collection for Mother’s Day. I have to take it in small doses or I make myself sick from all the laughing! My favorite is the one where he is at a hotel waiting to receive the Queen of England and when she finally comes in he knocks her out when he bows to her. Oh, man, I can’t stop laughing just thinking about it!
Epic Win! the best ever.
Mr. Bean is Epic Fail. Rowan Atkinson is hilarious in Blackadder II-IV but as Mr. Bean he caters to the brain-challenged.
The only thing worse than being forced to watch Mr. Bean is being forced to listen as a brain-challenged person on a bus tells you the plot of a Mr. Bean episode they saw yesterday.
Yeah, I thought Mr.Bean was universaly hated. We’re in the miniority!
Much like the Carry On films… Mr Bean seems to have been taken in by the Americans, hence the movies.
I think what makes it worse in the UK is that Rowan Atkinson has created some amazing characters, responsible for ‘Not The 9 o’clock News’ amongst others. Ah well, tis just the difference in humour I guess
Lawdy. I can’t stand him. His nuttering creepy noises freak me out too.
Black Adder was the best thing Rowan has ever done, and i stil think of hugh laurie as the idiotic prince.
I agree… the four Blackadder seasons were much, much better.
My sister, my husband, and I were in the movie section of the store today, and I saw some of the Mr. Bean movies. Honestly, I have never watched one, but I have a good reason. Every time I see the guys face, I want to punch it. I don’t know what it is, he’s just one of those actors that I can’t stand!
He’s almost as bad as that fat guy from Seinfeld, to name one of the actors that I really can’t stand.
Helloooo Newman.
YES! That guy! Oh my gosh! I hate him in every roll he has ever done!
Although, I have to admit that it was halarious when he got killed by the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park.
The movie, maybe. The show was undeniably hilarious.
Just admit that you don’t understand physical comedy. Rowan Atkinson is one of those rare comedians that is brilliant at spoken comedy and physical comedy.
Your appreciation of physical comedy genius is a fail.
Mr. Bean sketches are indeed Epic Win material. Pure genious that he doesn’t have to say a word and you know just what he’s thinking.
i loved watching these as a child! we still have a couple of videos! My favourite one, and what i think was the best one, was when he was on the beach trying to change with the guy in sunglasses there…
LOL i remember that one
Nativity Scene at the store in the Christmas Special is epic win.
So funny.
I love that scene
FAIL!
Looking at the near 100 some odd negative ratings this one got, I think its official. WE HAVE A TROLL INFESTATION!
i loved this show so much when i was a kid.
No troll infestation – it’s just not funny.
Conformity, authority & embarrassment are very British issues – this doesn’t do much for Americans. (Well, maybe in Utah or something).
What do you mean, it doesn’t do much for Americans? Maybe where you’re from, but I know plenty of Americans who love Mr. Bean, as well as lots and lots of other British comedy. Every one of those people also have a fine appreciation for sarcasm and satire, something a depressing number of fellow Americans I’ve interacted with seem unable to recognize, let alone appreciate.
You comment is kinda flawed to be honest, considering that the US has taken in Mr Bean more so than the UK ever did. Hence the movies…
Church one where he’s trying to eat the lolly . . . HALLELUJAH! . . . exam one where he’s trying to cheat . . . changing into his bathers at the beach . . . dancing at Club Phut with Irma . . . all FTW. The movies are woeful.
I’ve never seen the series but I want to. Blackadder totally rocks as well.
Rowan Atkinson is such a great actor Mr. Bean Blackadder are great shows
Absolutely. This guy is awesome just by the fact he was working with Hugh Laurie.
Awesome show. Nothing beats it.
Oh my god, Mr. Bean is nowhere near an epic win. It’s full of fail!
Bean = Epic WIN!
Hilarious show & really showed that you didn’t have to tell dirty jokes to get a laugh! Blackadder was also another hilarious series – especially the Elizabethan one with Miranda Richardson, and let’s not forget Hugh Laurie’s mincing Prince George!
Rowan Atkinson is one amazing, talented and oh-so-quirky guy!
I’m British and I can’t stand Mr Bean.
Now Blackadder, THAT was funny.
Epic win indeed.
My favorite is when he goes to the little beach, all set to change into his swimsuit, before he notices a guy sitting nearby. In utter win that follows, he manages to change from his pants into his speedo while never showing any naughty bits. Most awe-inspiring (seriously, who else could pull that off but Rowan Atkinson), and most hilarious bit in all of the series.
Especially when the bloke he’s worried about gets up, and, white cane in hand, makes his way back up to the street.
Crikey… “Where would British comedy be without Mr. Bean?” – A hell of a lot funnier, to be honest. If you’re gonna put comedy genius Rowan Atkinson up on here, do it with something that was funny, like “Not The Nine O’Clock News”, “Blackadder” or even “The Thin Blue Line”… But please please please not Mr. Bean!
