Epic Win: Chiclets Gum

Chiclets Gum is probably the most commonly used filler for diner candy machines round the world, which is why every American has probably tried at least once to chew a ball of Chiclets gum comprised of at least 10 pieces until their jaw hurts. Who didn’t have at least one friend that tried to see how many pieces he could shove in his mouth before he couldn’t chew any longer? Especially if it involved taunting the kid who didn’t have a quarter to get some of his own…
He looked something like this bizarro Thai Chiclets ad we found:
Then as an adult, many of us rekindled our relationship with Chiclets when we tried to quit smoking. It became such a cultural phenom that even Kevin Smith took at a dig at Chiclets’ marketing gurus on Clerks:
Yep, loved these. (For about 10 minutes) 25cents for a handful.

Living in LA, where the liquor stores sold candy, I would occasionally get Chiclets. I would chew them by the handfuls
Not only do I LOVE chicklets but bubble gum ice cream that was infused with them pretty much rocks too!!!

Come on, you’ve already been corrected on this one. Now, I love Kevin Smith’s films. I have seen all of them multiple times and have a whole collection of stuff. I traveled 19 hours by bus just to meet Jay. I do love the references to this beloved movie that you infuse this blog with.

My dad used to bring home those mini packets as surprises for me and my brother and sister.
One time I remember eating Chiclets was from one those little things that you crank…except this was at the Greyhound BUS STATION. That’s right, it was some small, old, filthy place downtown where everyone looked like they were smelly homeless people. It’s actually gone now…the whole thing has been leveled.
And that’s my story.
