Epic Win: Handheld Fans

Submitted by Jake E
Handheld fans are just about worthless for cooling you off because they don’t blow very hard and the battery life is fairly short, however, on a squelching-hot summer day a handheld fan made you feel like a million bucks. When combined with a water bottle for misting, nothing short of a cranked up air-conditioner could make you feel better.
They also had other fun uses…

Stick your tongue into one. Double. Dog. Dares.
ROFL!
When one’s mother was going through The Change it made all the difference.
LOL, I had one of these with the water bottle attached. Bought it at Disney World and on the way back from Florida on a charter bus the AC went out. I curled up with this sucker and a book and was a whole lot happier than everyone else on the bus.
nostalgic?
why nostalgic??
That’s what I’m saying.
You can still buy these all over the place. I see them a lot in the city during summer.
I got one of these, such a version that you can use it also as drinkmixer…
Nostalgic doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get them anymore. Why doesn’t anyone on here seem to get this? It was a long time ago when these things came out, and it seemed everyone needed to have one when they did.
Anyhoo, these rocked. But they didn’t let us bring them into school for the, you know, hazards… ie putting your tongue through the moving blades, putting them into someone’s hair… =P The batteries always seemed to wear out so quickly though.
these always saved my life at summer camp, except when it was over 96 degrees out, then all they did was blow hot air at you
My brother put it in my hair and it got all tangled! : (
Haha i got one of these for my birthday…but it has a USB cable so it’ll work on computer power instead of battery power…

1: the state of being homesick : homesickness
2: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition ; also : something that evokes nostalgia
notice the “yearning for return to or of some past period”? cant be nostalgic if its still around.
“yearning for return TO or of some past period.”
Past period being the time these things first came out to the market. Meaning the time it came out and it was real big and “everyone was doing it” because of it. To return to that time and get nostalgic about it because “Oh, I remember when those came out and we all had to have them when we were little.”
They are still around, yes, but the time is now gone where they were the most popular.
mmmmm, boxers! the very best of all breeds! Duke and Micah Star: RIP
and according to what I saw from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, it can propel a raft
My brother actually made one of these fans. And I destroyed it, trying to figure out how it works. he was so mad, but didn’t let me put it together for him since I understood how…… LOL
yeah, those were fun until you got too close and hacked off your nose with the spinning blade.
