Epic Win: Jim Henson’s Muppet Treasure Island

Submitted by Chris G

You can’t go wrong with Muppets, Billy Connolly and Tim Curry, not to mention they stayed fairly true to the original Treasure Island. Yet another great Muppets movie that eventually wore out through years of use and abuse at our hands.

  1. Kenny123 says:

    Great movie.SECOND first.Some people get none….I must be god…

  2. Gretchen says:

One of my all time favorite movies!

  3. Meg-Meg says:

This was an epic win before epic wins even existed!!! One of my fave movies!

  4. Mizz Kitteh says:

    I’ve got cabin fever !
NOOOOOO now its in my head!!!!

    • Pennyforth says:

We’ve got cabin fever, we’re flipping our bandanas,
Been at sea so long that we have simply gone bananas!

      CABIN FEVER!

      • I_Love_Epic_Wins says:

“I’ve got cabin fever, I think I’ve lost my grip!”
“I’d like to get my hands on whoever wrote this *SCRIPT!*”
        “Si!”

        • vi31 says:

“This once proud vessel has become a floating pyscho ward!”

Epin win. Has Tim Curry ever been sexier??

          • Ma.Belle.Fluer says:

Why yes he has! I personally enjoyed his awesome sexiness in RHPS.
He was also most excellent in Clue, but not quite as sexy. haha.

            • vi31 says:

Of course, those are my other two fave TC movies, Ma. However, the makeup and fishnets don’t do a thing for me. Pirates, however, do. “When You’re a Professional Pirate” absolutely puts a lump in my throat, the hairs on my arms up, and a couple of things I can’t mention. ;)

            • gau says:

I agree with you on the RHPS part. I’ve never watched Clue.

          • Gretchen says:

I thought he looked pretty good in Disney’s The 3 Musketeers.

    • Ammon says:

Clueless Morgan: Wait, what was that song that just happened?

Polly: What are you taking about?

Clueless: You know, “Cabin Fever, Ah!”

  5. fish eye no miko says:

o/~ “And those buccaneers drowned their sins in rum
The Devil himself would have to call them scum
Every man aboard would have killed his mate
For a bag of guineas or a piece of eight ” o/~

    I. LOVE. That song.

  6. Softpaw says:

Tim Curry has said on the record that this was his favorite role ever.

  7. gatakitty says:

And what about Big Fat Ugly Bug-Face Baby-Eating O’Brien????

  8. Ashikins says:

Sailing on the big blue wet thinggg!

  9. The first post-Jim-Henson Kermit movie that got the singing voice right. I was aghast at the Kermit singing voice in Christmas Carol… it was soooo…. “normal”. Not Kermit.

  10. Casa says:

    I LOVE this movie.
Big Blue Wet Thing, Something Better, and that kinda dark opening song -fish eye no miko- mentioned are at the top of my shower singing list!!!

  11. Outback Jon says:

OK, it’s a great movie, but 13 years ago and it qualifies as nostalgia?

  12. Inua says:

    This is a great movie!
I love that in the opening scene there is a seriously hunky pirate digging. I wish I knew who he was.

  13. wibble says:

I love this movie so very much. Me and my little brother watch it all the time, it’s nice that he appreciates something made before he was born.

We love it… and I’m not ashamed to say I have the songs on my iTunes…and some on my iPod.haha.

  14. Ammon says:

“I believe they prefer Visually Challenged Fiend.”

  15. Katie says:

“The man is a raging tornado, tormented by inner demons tjhe likes of a mere mortal could not fathom!”

  16. Mistletoe says:

Love love love this movie. The running gag of the tourist rats, omg.

    • mrsbmw says:

SO GREAT. I love that they visited “The set of MTI” while the movie was going on… and then scuba diving at the end…. so great.

  17. RoyBatty says:

This seems a little to specific to be Nostalgic Win.

Have they already run out of things?

  18. mrsbmw says:

    “How does she DO that?”

HAHAHA This is one of my favorites ever… ENDLESS quotability and yes, I destroyed the tape by playing it so many times.

“Dead Tom’s dead! Long John SHOT HIM!”
“But, Dead Tom’s always been dead. That’s why he’s called ‘Dead Tom’”

“Talking parrots? That’s rich! What’s next, a singing, dancing mouse with his own amusement park? AAAHAHA”

    sigh… classic.

i loved mr. bimbo, the man who lived in fozzie’s thumb.
