  1. bluetubeodyssey says:

    I have the DVD!

    • IndigoRose says:

omg me too! I just watched it a couple weeks ago, lol

    • Bud says:

Like 30 cats were killed making this movie. They did not have the current regulations they have now back in Japan in the 80’s.

      • Theme says:

Sorry, but that are just rumours. Ok, I cannot believe they could make this movie without hurting any of the animals, but don´t just pretend that there are facts proving your accusations

  2. Justn says:

I love this movie. Brings back so many memories.

  3. Stick says:

I loved this movie. I must have watched the tape six billion times over. (And Homeward Bound)

  4. Emily says:

I recently bought this CD in the 5$ bin.

    That and “Homeward Bound”

    <3 Milo and Otis

  5. emily says:

nope, this movie just didn’t do it for me. I severely hate this movie.

  6. Jessie says:

I use to watch this over and over again. I just watched it again recently and realized I had horrible taste in movies back then.

  7. OtherBill says:

My son loved this movie when he was growing up. Dudley Moore’s narration was so soothing.

Did anyone notice that in the closing credits, they do not say “no animals were harmed in the making of this film”? Instead, they say “all animals were treated with the utmost of care”. Makes me wonder how many Milos they went through.

(As for Homeward Bound, all I can say is http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/lost_cat_dog_on_journey_die )

    • Em says:

I know for certain that they had to replace the kitty after he went over the waterfall…. I found a website once that had a list of how many animals they went though and exactly which points they died at. They did not really have very strict regulations back then. :(

    • achgfd says:

Yea the biggest point I remember was where they threw the cat over the cliff. So sad. It’s actually a Japanese film that they dubbed over in English. Once I found out about how many animals were hurt or killed, I just can’t watch it anymore.

  8. John says:

OMG I <3 u for posting this. This was my favorie movie as a kid.

    *tear

  9. Kelly says:

there are three animal movies that have always touched my heart, made my cry and made my laugh: homeward bound, fly away home, and milo and otis

  10. VS says:

Omg Omg Omg… LOVED Milo and Otis. Although I remember as a kid i used to think the part where they showed the cat having babies was a little gross.

Homeward bound is definitely another epic win, I must have watched that one a million times.

    • zoid says:

I watched this while babysitting when I was about 17. I thought that part was gross…They didn’t. >.< Not sure what that says about me.

  11. nitrogamer says:

lol, my nephews love milo and otis. the theme song is so catchy, but there are a few disgusting pg-13 scenes in it.
i like in the credits, how it say about the “special effects director”. for this movie, he just went “here is how to throw a cat off a cliff. see? kthxbai.”
    all around a nice movie

  12. toshibawarrior says:

I absolutely LOVE this movie!!! I watched it hundreds of times as a kid and now as an adult it’s still my most favorite movie of all time (I still watch it every now and then) along with Wall-E (even though he’s a robot and not an animal).

Milo and Otis is a very heartwarming story. It was the reason I started loving cats. It’s also the reason why I always take care of animals, even if they’re not mine. I simply loved this movie, specially the parts where Milo’s curiosity got him into trouble. Don’t tell anyone, but I still get teary eyes when I watch this…shh! Heh!

  13. Krepta says:

The scene that wins in this is coming across the merry bathing fox, singing a nonsense song at the top of its lungs as it splashes around in the river. “Ehhh-dee-depdep-deetdeet-dyuhh, eehp-deedeetdeet dyyyuuughhh…”

And then coming out all wet: “Oh! Whoof! God! Ungh!”

    • Casa says:

That’s one of the few lines I remember now that I’m grown up.
“You call that a tail?! THIS is a tail!”
      .
Very similar to the Homeward Bound quote “‘e bit me with his butt!!!”

  14. heruyan says:

actually it was originally a Japanese film (子猫物語 A Kitten’s Story) kind of Westernized with the addition of English and all.

overall it was an awesome tale. my sister and i watched it probably more than all other animal adventure stories combined, with due respect to homeward bound.

  15. Hilary says:

Aww, I loved this movie when I was little. The part with the owl always scared me.

    • *squish* says:

Oh, yeah, that screech owl! The way he just stared always freaked me out too as a little kid. Also that part where he goes through the woods at night, and sees the eyes… and the barren swamp was pretty depressing too… sheesh, there were a lot of scary parts in this movie! ;)

  16. Kat says:

Being a grandma means I keep these and other ‘kiddie’ movies at my house……and late at night…..I WATCH THEM!!! Muahaha! Love this movie!!

  17. Chass says:

Love love love love this movie :D I was hoping it would get posted here soon. Everyone go to Wal-Mart and buy it, they have it on the $5 DVD shelf!

  18. MJ says:

    Oh I LOVED that movie!!

  19. LB says:

I loved this as a kid, and now my son loves it.

  20. Kinseth says:

My siblings and I watched this movie pretty much every day.

  21. Myra S says:

Oho! What a nice surprise. I was just going through my routine check of sites to find that my entry made it to front page on here!

Milo & Otis has got to be my favorite movies from my childhood.

  22. Kittah Noir says:

I was sort of ambivalent on this one (liked it as a kid, grew out of it pretty quick) but my partner was absolutely mortified when he found out just how the animals were treated and how many they went through. Still, he hasn’t tried to stop my 5 year old son watching it, lol!

  23. avallach says:

Good movie but when I watched it as an adult I realized there’s a lot of scenes that couldn’t've been done without harming the animals (like throwing a cat off a cliff). Also noticed many of the names in the credits were Japanese. Did some research and found a lot of cruelty went on. I still let my kids watch it but it bothers me.

  24. miroku says:

The film was just the cat, and dog, and everything that took place over 4 years on a island.

The animal cruelty allegations are largely unfounded.

  25. Iliaria says:

Milo & Otis is awesome. Excellent once upon a win!

  26. nunya says:

I have it on DVD as well…. my 6 year old still calls every Pug he sees Otis, and his orange stuffed cat? Milo of course. A great family movie.

  27. dancingkat says:

This movie was a pathetic rip off of Homeward Bound & The Incredible Journey. Why tout the weak copy and not its predecessors?

    • miroku says:

I hope you are kidding. Milo & Otis came out in Japan on June 27, 1986. Homeward Bound came out February 3, 1993.

  28. Sarah says:

I don’t remember any of this movie, but I know I liked it. ;>_>

  29. ravenfaye says:

The animals were actually tortured in this film. I know someone who works on it and, being it’s basically a
foreign film, they don’t have the same laws against animal cruelty.

Without knowing that, yes it is a cute movie but, knowing it makes it unwatchable.

    • Bix Nood says:

The American Humane Association attempted to investigate cruelty rumors through “contacts in Europe who normally have information on movies throughout the world.” While noting that the contacts had also heard the allegations, they were unable to verify it as being true. The organization also reported, “we have tried through humane people in Japan, and through another Japanese producers to determine if these rumors are true but everything has led to a dead end.”

  30. missed adventures says:

    Never heard of it.

  31. Me says:

i first saw this at my grandmas house and evry time i went ther i wathed it. and i have the first 2 homeward bounds. sassy, champ, and the main dog are all full of win

i rlly hope milo and otis wernt abused. oh well, theres always hoemward bound to fall bakc on
    the incredible journey
    and san ffrancisco

    oh yeah…burn

    does anyone know
how they did the scene form homeward bound

where sasy falls in teh river adn almost drowns. havin pets myself i always used to cry during that scene. i dont think the homeward bound actors were abused. it doesnt sound foreign and i dont think they would do thatt in america or canada. teh animal rights activists would be on their asses (which i agree with!)

  32. Emily says:

    I love this show!
Ahh! I watched at a friends house awhile back and I fell in love.
    D;
I didn’t know they hurt the animals?
Then again a bear looks around for a cat in a dresser.

  33. kibbles says:

I used to love this movie because I love animals, but after watching it as an adult I think it’s cruel and horrible. The things they do to the animals! Not to mention physical harm and death that is not mostly shown, but a kitten and a bear?! These animals obviously look stressed and unhappy. I hate this movie. :( :(

  34. liloaktree says:

I really liked this movie at the time, but in hindsight it was pretty boring and ridiculous.

  35. Valmonster says:

Used to watch this movie all the time as a kid… watched it about a year ago when I was incredibly stoned and it still touched my heart :D

  36. SH says:

Loved this film as a kid. Could quote the whole thing from woah-to-go.

Still laugh when I think about “You call that a tail?!” and this film instilled in me a lifetime love for pugs!

Sad about the allegations of cruelty though.

  37. Black Blaze says:

ah, this brings back memories. I loved this movie as a kid. I accidentally stole a Mito and Otis VHS from a Blockbuster once, when I was 6. I just walked out with it in my hand… XD

  38. Danielle says:

Holy crap, I used to be crazy about this movie when I was little!

  39. NaMaHa says:

I rented this movie almost religiously.

  40. Monty Python 4eva says:

I get nightmares from the scene with the screech owl *Shudders*

  41. Pastor Dave says:

AHHHH i nearly peed my pants with excitment when i saw this was up here when i was little i always went to me senile old neighbors house and watched this movie!

  42. Sarhii says:

this movie always made me cry.

  43. Zero says:

Oh god I loved this movie. I need to find a copy of it and watch it again :’D

  44. FlonkertonChamp says:

this movie always makes me cry

  45. Katharine says:

This movie always made me feel sad, but I watched it anyway. Same with The Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Fern Gully

  46. stick2012 says:

Omg, the description is so true, After watching this movie I started going on this site way more often
