Epic Win: Castlevania

Castlevania was an epic NES game that shaped the future of gameplay and spawned a great series of games. Werewolves and vampires were a staple of pop-culture in the 80’s and early 90’s and this game complimented that time very well.

    Awesome!!

I remember Castlevania, Symphony of the Night. One of the best… and rarest… games on the PSX :-)

What percentage completion could you get? highest i could get was about 208% or something, been a while

  2. So cool, it brings me some memories

  3. BigJim says:

Great series of games that has come out over the years. Wouldn’t mind seeing a few remakes for XBox Arcade.

The following link will bring you to a page that has the game being beat in a little over 13 minutes.

  4. Skrolnik says:

This and Metroid defined a specific niche in the platformer genera.

  5. PPG says:

I played Castlevania for Game Boy ALL the time when I was little. *sigh* Good times.

  6. Rachel of Cyberia says:

Wasn’t there a Castlevania text version for apple in the early 80s? I think I remember playing it in 7th grade.

  7. Marvster says:

Castlevania the only game, where bats von stairs may kill u instantly…

  8. Poco says:

This guy is entirely too good at Castlevania.

I still play Castlevania III for the NES now and then.

  9. foobarbaz says:

The recent DS games were pretty good too. :)

  10. heruyan says:

Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Metal Gear

top 4 greatest game series ever

  11. badcat says:

My (homemade) ringtone is from Castlevania. The first two games had epic music.

  12. Mistkikan says:

Castlevania was re-released for the GBA, and can still be played on the DS. You can find it generally as easily as at Toys R Us or Gamestop.

The series just rocks my socks. Except for the horrib-bad ‘first person’ 3D and this most recent ‘fighting game’. Blah.

SYMPHONY FOREVER! (And the ones like it, Dawn/Order of Ecc)

    Enjoy=)

  13. Mettan says:

I have this game on an emulator, it’s so annoying to get hit by those Medusa Heads mid-jump and fall to your doom.

  14. JOn says:

what a terrible night for a curse!

  15. Jeff says:

One franchise that just can’t seem to make a successful transition to 3-D. But the 2-D games are so good, it makes up for it.

  16. Harpuia says:

Believe it or not, I’m actually playing Circle of the Moon as I’m typing this. I love this series!

  17. Obsession says:

Oh my gosh, I love these games. Even if I died as soon as I got in the Castle in the NES ones. D: I love the music and backgrounds they put into the games. Oh, but does anyone else think that the beginning part of the first song in the game sound a little like Thriller?
