Epic Win: Count Chocula

once upon a win

Submitted by Sal O

Epic sugar high is more like it. This was the first truly sugar-filled cereal, with chocolate cereal goodness mixed in with marshmallows. A bowl of this and it was off to the races!

    • Mungo says:

I used to work at a grocery store, and this guy came to my line and buy like all the count chocula like twice a week
so one day i asked him and he was like” i love this stuff” once i put a guy in a coma cause he ate my last bowl” A freaking come over this stuff! it has to be awesome

  1. utaduta says:

during haloween they put all these back out. i loved me some boo berry and franken berry! i totaly remember getting those monster stamps and putting them all over my paper bag book covers!

  2. Mandy says:

BooBerry kicks ass, so much more than Count Chocula. Frankberry comes in a close second.

    • hee hee says:

I completely agree!!! During the holloween season, I take a nostalgia trip and buy BooBerry and FrankenBerry. Count Chocula is around year round.

    • Anonymous says:

My mom sent me a care package of the three cereals at Halloween. I was only interested in the FrankenBerry & BooBerry. I fobbed off the Count Chocula to my husband.
Gotta love care packages from America.

  3. Johnny's girl says:

We weren’t allowed to have this kind of cereal at our house. We had Cheerios and Rice Krispies (which I still love).

As a grown up, I have sampled Trix, Apple Jacks, Honeycombs, and Fruity Pebbles but I still haven’t tried Count Chocula.

    • to open flip up cap says:

I think we grew up in the same house. :( It’s good to know that there are other survivors of BPD (Bland Parent Disease). :D My sugar-cereal begging skills were pretty poor too, I’ve never tried these cereals. I’ve always wanted to, but either they don’t stock them where I live or I simply never go down the cereal aisle anymore. :)

  4. Stick says:

I was more of a Coco Puffs kind of person.

  5. NaughtyCat says:

Oh yeah! Pour that manjuice all over the cereal Count Chocula, like the stud you are!

  6. D.R. says:

Count Chocula– yummy chocolate goodness! :)

  7. Chass says:

Oh man. I want some so badly now.

Does anyone remember that S’mores Crunch cereal they used to make? Not the sucky stuff they make now, but the kind that was basically Golden Grahams with added mini marshmallows and chocolate graham cereal pieces. That stuff was amaaazing.

  8. Wombatish says:

    I was such a little adult as a kid… I loved Crispix.

But when I had sugary cereal it was BooBerry all the way.

This should really be Count Chocula and friends :D

  9. LilyHeartless says:

We had a laugh about Count Chocula. My roommate is an animator/comic artist…

And yeah, my mother never let me eat the stuff either. She was very anti-sugar. SIGH.

  10. Ashley says:

This was the best because unlike Lucky Charms, the cereal was very tasty too :D Does anyone remember the days when cereal had toys inside?!?! Not the crap where you had to send so many proofs of purchase to get your toy… The toy was already there. Those were the days!

  11. puppatoons says:

We totally hoard boxes of this stuff at Halloween when they re-release it.

  12. MadAriad says:

Yeah right – Like my mom would ever let us have it…..

  13. Feisty says:

Sorry, BooBerry totally kicks Count Chocula’s ass.

  14. Des says:

    BEST. CEREAL. EVER.
The day after Halloween, I go to the store and buy a bunch of the left over boxes so I can have them well into December.
This stuff was great then and it’s great now.

  15. Rhiannercakes says:

I’m 21 and it’s still my favourite cereal.

  16. Anonymous says:

I go thru about 3 boxes a week of this stuff and have for nearly 30 years. Franken Berry and Boo Berry are no match for the Count! Sadly they are all friends ( due to contractual agreements from General Mills back in the late 70’s) and we all know that the Berry brothers wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Sir Chocula and wonderful goodness….

    VIVE LE CHOCULA!!

  17. Anonymous says:

Also a boo Berry Lover! And add me to teh parents not letting us have sugar, but worse than ‘rice krispies’ we had something called Lincoln Flakes? No sugar whatsoever, just pressed wheat I t hink.

Best – marshmallow Boo Berry Treats, yum!

  18. likesLSDalot says:

he can kick Edward Cullen sparkly ass!

  19. Sonico says:

I LOVE these diabetic cereals; cocoa puffs, apple jacks, golden grahams, corn pops. So damn good!

    • My buddy and I have a pretty cool blog, totally dedicated to these MONSTER CEREALS…monsterscereal.blogspot.com…check it out. I think these are the best cereal characters ever made. They are so different than anything out there, they fight, they’re like old men that argue over who has the best lawn.

  20. PH says:

    remember fruit brute

  21. Zero says:

Does anyone know if they still make this stuff? Cause if so, I need to start looking harder

  22. Lauren says:

I begged my Mom to buy Count Chocula for me… she finally gave in. I fished out the stamp and refused to eat the cereal! I’ve still got that stupid stamp!

  23. Winman says:

Is it just me or is Count Chocula movie > Twilight\New Moon

  24. Chelsea says:

My boyfriend and I buy this every week. And we buy it in bulk. Also, we buy frankenberry and booberry in bulk from GE when we can. (since its only around during halloween.)

My dad also LOVES frankenberry and booberry. :D

I’m a original Count Chocula fan (who doens’t love chocolate!)

i’m going to go have a bowl right now~!

  25. Matt says:

No one remembers the short lived Yummy Mummy cereal. *sad*
